There is no Coach in the Country that will ever come close to consistently outrecruiting UT and OU and without the horses they won't consistently beat them either. This ain't the NFL where everybody gets a First Round Draft choice. This is College Football where UT and OU get 10 First Round Draft choices and the rest scramble for the rest

No Coach in the country? Since 2003 both USC and Florida have consistently had better classes than UT or OU and Alabama has been better since than both since Saban got there.

mmm really-I do believe UT has the best record in the country since then. And BTW who in the hell was talking about USC and Florida? We were talking about Texas Tech. USC and Florida get about 12 First Round Draft Choices every year-so they would almost always beat Texas Tech too. I agree USC and Florida have edged out UT in recruiting during that period-it should have said the Big 12

I agree at Tech you are never going to out recruit UT and OU, but your first comment seemed to say that no coach i the country out recruits UT, OU. USC and UF may have worse records but more National Titles

I found ender3's post to be thoughtful and balanced.

He did not say fire Leach. He said if your goal is to win championships... On the other hand he pointed out aTm not being satisfied, switching coaches and going in the wrong direction.

So, be greedy (especially when you can not recruit over UT/OU) and switch or just enjoy your bowl games.

Heh. Thanks PonyGrad.

That's exactly what I meant. Don't fire Leach. I'm married to a TTU grad, and I have to explain often that, like Stallion says, I find it very difficult to believe that TTU will ever be on a level playing field with UT and OU.

Leach has that program, year to year, about as successful as I think they can be. I think switching coaches was a mistake for the Aggies, when they got national championship stars in their eyes, and they have regretted it ever since.

If the Raiders get unsatisfied with roughly "8-4" and decide that they can take one more step by switching coaches, I think that they will regret it, too.

Be happy with what IS achievable. I'd love NOTHING more than for SMU to have Tech's record over the past 5 years.

I'll do what I can to maintain "stinkin' genius" status.
Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.

I agree that Leach is good for TT. He's the only reason Tech is on the map. The reason Jones Stadium was expanded, the reason gameday was in Lubbock, the reason people pay attention. Can you imagine what a yawner it wouldve been if it was Houston vs. a Spike Dykes 6-5 or 6-6 Tech team? Seems like Raycom sports or something like that had boring [deleted] games like that on all the time. Reminds me of boring basketball they used to show on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, like Baylor-TCU or some such.
