Re: Do we still "rue the day" we passed on Todd Dodge? How can anyone really be successful at a dump like UNT with the recruits and facilities they have?
Re: Do we still "rue the day" we passed on Todd Dodge? The previous coach found a way to be pretty good. They were regulars in the New Orleans Bowl and won the Sun Belt pretty consistently. Dodge has been a total failure and there really isn't any way to sugar coat his tenure thus far.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Do we still "rue the day" we passed on Todd Dodge?
excellent point on Dickey
Re: Do we still "rue the day" we passed on Todd Dodge?Dodge's biggest mistake after taking the job was the assistants he hired. Some had little or no college coaching experience and it really showed. He has finally corrected part of that and I still think he will get the job done at UNT if given the time. He just set the timeline back a couple of years with the hires he made.
When will I start feeling stimulated??
Re: Do we still "rue the day" we passed on Todd Dodge?Still waiting to rue.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Do we still "rue the day" we passed on Todd Dodge? If my memory serves me correctly, I think a coach at North Texas by the name of Hayden Fry did a fairly decent job in Denton with victories over SMU, Tennesee, Houston(the year before they won the SWC) Oklahoma State and many more! This after being fired at SMU with I believe a 7-3 record. He also did a fairly good job at Iowa for 20 years. I am sure the folks in Denton and Iowa City are eternally grateful to the people who made the "Fry decision" at SMU. What might have been.....had we not let some meddling alumni run off a future hall of fame coach. Still paying for it 30 something years later.
Re: Do we still "rue the day" we passed on Todd Dodge? Can someone post a link to the SMU discussion board ? I didn't realize it but I've ended up by mistake on the UNT board.
Thanks !
