I was an intended theatre major. After I auditioned for SMU, I was accepted as well to TCU. I was waitlisted for SMU's theatre program (TCU doesn't audition, so I was already in there). I denied accepting to go to TCU because I told myself "I was better than that". I went so far as to begin scheduling classes at SMU, preferring possibly acceptance at SMU over guaranteed TCU education.
Luckily it all worked out, SMU accepted me into the program, and I got a decent education in both theatre and general classes.
It pains me to see the attitude TCU has about their education because their football team is good. Houston has a decent team this year too, but would any of us trade an SMU education for a Cougar High education? Not a chance.
For the record: I had no problem getting into SMU as a University, I was just waitlisted as a theatre major. I constantly claim Fort Worth is a much better city than Dallas. I still believe it. But TCU is the lone blemish on an otherwise amazing city.
A theater major, how impressive. Which Starbucks are you working for in LA?
And where do you work, [deleted]? Do you pump my gas or fix my toilet?

Ill talk football reedfrawg. I say we lose saturday. I would love to be wrong but Im sure we lose. Its still funny that after 25 years of [deleted] [deleted] football you only have a few games on us all time. Enjoy it because I know that will not last forever. Here is to the future with an education from a school I actually applied to. Cheers.

The last time I wasn't at an SMU/TCU game, we kicked some [deleted]. Here's to hoping that my absence will lead to the same. We are due for a complete game and I would love nothing better than witnessing TCU having to endure our coming out party. Let's take it to em!
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.

SMU has a great theatre program. They've even trained their football team to act as if they were a legit FBS program. You can't do much better than that.

We have quite a few SMU alums who work right here at TCU, alongside hundreds of TCU alums. So TCU types are actually signing their paychecks. Apparently, sometime after graduation, they learned the real world doesn't operate on the lines of Hilltop delusions of "Harvard wannabe," so they came to where they could really learn success. Heck, we even had an SMU senior interning in my division at TCU all summer. He knew where he could learn the most. I took him to the Los Vaqueros restaurant on the TCU campus one memorable evening and bought him a Frogarita (purple margarita). A young man that cognizant deserves to be rewarded.

Hey, you guys have a helluva ranch management program. So I guess your saying that TCU alums hold many positions as ranch foremen. Wow, and to go to school for 4 -5 years for that. Your parents must be proud.

Wow...that's really amazing insight. At my office I work with grads from SMU, Baylor, Tech, UT, A&M, Nebraska, etc. and nobody really cares where you went to school except during football season! I'm glad you are proud of your education but give it up. I never said anything about how many games we won recently or all-time. You are grasping at straws...happy to talk sports but don't understand the annual pi$$ing match about academics.

Okay, now lets move to ugly yellow building smac. As in when I visited TCU, my dad asked who threw up? And by the way, TCU has a good football team. A TCU grad and an SMU grad were walking down the street, the SMU grad sniffs the air and asks the TCU grad if he had crapped his pants. The TCU grad said, "no". They walked a little further and the SMU grad asked "are you sure you didn't go #2 in your pants". The Froggie answered "no". After awhile the SMU grad's eyes were watering. And he told the Froggie drop trou (which apparently Froggies do all the time when asked, but I digress). And he found the guy's underpants were loaded. The SMU grad asks, "I thought you said you didn't mess in your drawers?" The Froggie answered, "I thought you meant today." So, this tells us that Froggies do learn grammar.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

But one of the fun things about following college football is the great smacktalk between the rivals.
Some of it in fun. Some of it ugly. Some of it creative. I personally liked that shot at the TCU fountain.
As far as the rankings from U.S. News & World Report, I can only think of the Paul Simon, "Slip Sliding Away.'' because that's what you guys are doing in comparison to us.
SMU has a national name. TCU has a regional name. That's the reality.

That's great... Like I said, I could not care less - I am interested in the football game. If you guys want to talk about academics then set up an Academic Forum...I'd be happy to debate there.

Probably not, but not cutting out scotch past 10pm might be a good start.
