Actually they were in our conference so we had no choice. They do. I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Re: Topic From TCU Boards: Should TCU stop playing SMU?TCU has been running away from us for years since they got good after 20 years of mediocrity. They left us with the WAC for CUSA. They left CUSA to join the MWC when we joined CUSA. I say, after we finally beat them again we say to them DLTDHYITAOTWO.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Topic From TCU Boards: Should TCU stop playing SMU?Professional Players ? Yea, TCU would never do that. Check out the car the RB from Taft HS here in San Antonio (Merrill) got when he played at TCU, and look at what the DB from Jay HS was promised when he signed with TCU over local UTSA this year. Needless to say he is being taken care of. I know from his family what he has been told.
Regardless that all schools do it, I think TCU should be complimented on their committment and how they have gone about focusing on football. Over the last 20 or so years they have been able to admit kids that SMU would not let into school. That is a fact. Now that our admissions have relaxed if SMU does not make progress like TCU we may in fact forever be doomed. TCU will win this weekend and quite frankly I hope they go undefeated and shake up the BCS. I am one SMU fan who doesn't mind TCU being successful. But to claim we were or are the only one "assisting" players is unrealistic and simply not factual.

Actually, it's 3. But who's counting? "Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid." John Wayne

Re: Topic From TCU Boards: Should TCU stop playing SMU?Really Stallion get real, if you don't notice the momentum here, than you are not really up to speed, as SMU signs more 3 stars, then some 4 stars will come as well.......the momentum is happening and if you can't see it then you are asleep at the wheel. JJ is a tried and proven winner from the NFL to the NCAA...this is not some assistant coach from a suburban HS or a former assistant at a D-2 school....this is a staff with connections and are proven....it will happen and is happening now.
Re: Topic From TCU Boards: Should TCU stop playing SMU?If TCU dumped SMU then they would have no traditional rivals left. That would be like Notre Dame not playing Navy or Colorado not playing Colorado State. It is a game that will be played for as long as both schools keep playing football.

Re: Topic From TCU Boards: Should TCU stop playing SMU?
It was not 20 years of mediocrity. What planet do you hale from? It was 20 years of football nuclear winter. 1983 was when it started to change with Wacker. Then of course we got caught cheating in a big way (God love us for trying) and went back in the tank. Then Fran and Patterson parted the seas and restored us to our rightful standing as one of the top 2-4 programs in Texas and top 25 in the country. Currently, I think we are the 2nd best in the state. Baylor is an afterthought and Tech is in Lubbock. No way Tech can maintain momentum without scheduling 4 absolute patsies in OOC. Look what happens when they step up in class. A&M is the only program with a chance to dislodge us but that is at least a few years away assuming Sherman is worth a darn.Of course, if Patterson leaves us then all bets are off!
Re: Topic From TCU Boards: Should TCU stop playing SMU?I agree with you. That is why I hope TCU runs the table and messes with the BCS this year. Some of our fans have to see the big picture and realize if TCU is successful it can also be used to our benefit, especially if we can keep playing each other.
TCU is a more talented experienced team now as we still start some true sophmores and freshmen. TCU should win this game easily by 3 or 4 TDs, especially playing at home. Jones has really only had one recruiting class and unfortunately most of them have to play right away. We are not comparing apples to apples yet, this is still like a varsity vs. JV team in many respects. But if in the next 3 to 4 years we have not improved and are able to play 3rd and 4th year redshirt guys and make this a game, I can see why you would drop us from the schedule. Also you are right on about Tech. Some objective Tech fans realize Leech's numbers and wins have been inflated vs. no names and patsies and actually wouldn't be upset to see him go.
Re: Topic From TCU Boards: Should TCU stop playing SMU?PonyScott-here's the facts-since June Jones got here I hate to inform you that the talent gap is getting bigger not smaller. Come back and tell me where SMU's class is ranked in the first week of February and where TCU's class is ranked.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Topic From TCU Boards: Should TCU stop playing SMU?Stallion I never said we would rank with TCU this year....this is the real first full year of recruiting and it takes several years of relationship gathering to get the good recruits and as we get 3 stars and a 4 star or two committed, the monentum commences....one year of recruiting does not a program make.....
Re: Topic From TCU Boards: Should TCU stop playing SMU?Forgive my fellow froggy's stupidity...he is probably one of the "we should be in the 'Little' 12" people. SMU and TCU should make it a point to play one another in everything...2 class programs, 2 class cities, good-natured rivalry with history. GREAT! (Don't know about the 'iron skillet" though...I never heard of that creation until a few years ago?) But GREAT nonetheless. Almost identicle schools with just enough identifiable distictions to make it fun.
In fact, TCU, SMU should talk Vandy, Tulane, Tulsa, BYU, Baylor and others meeting a certain commitment to education into forming a conference of their own. But that's another story... Anyone on here is welcome at our tailgates (West Side or "Home Side" of Amon Carter Stadium). Just come over tomorrow!!! Go Frogs and good luck Ponies...but not 05' luck.
