I was one of the ones leaving at halftime because we had young kids with us and it was approaching nine. Not my choice, but had a good time during the pregame and first half. I understand how this can be frustrating because of the appearance, but surely you are not really suggesting to stay home instead of purchasing four tickets and then having to leave early! I see some adult education math classes in your future if this is your plan to resurrect this football program. When the games begin at 2:00, families will not have the time constraint and then you can resume your [deleted], but please don't encourage people not to come!

It is a bit of a balancing act/Catch22. September and even sometimes early October can be hot. So part of the reason they schedule night games is to avoid the heat. People with kids must depart early if it is a night game, but older folks may not come if it is a day game and it is in the 90's. Day games can also conflict with kids soccer ect. In reality there is no "perfect time". Pretty much any time and someone will have a conflict. I prefer the first 3 games being at night and the last 3 being day games. So I think they have it about right at 3 & 3.

I ran into this guy pictured below at the game and he was pretty upset about people leaving early when the game was on the line in the 4th quarter. But does anyone know how much the temps dropped towards the end? It seemed fine in the first half but then it got pretty chilly.

I would think that the look on his face was from seeing the two geldings and the fear that he was next. :P

would agree there is not perfect time, but a solution might be to move the evening kickoffs up from 7:00 to 6:00. 5:00 might even be interesting time, most of the kiddos are done with activities by then. Especially with all the passing we do, the games are going to go pretty late. Can you imagine if Navy threw the ball more, we would have been there until midnight.

The kids can't stay up beyond 9PM on a saturday night for a football game?

They do it for High School Games.

There are lots of kids at the night HP games and they don't leave at half.

I just think we don't have as many serious football fans(alums/students) at our University.

A 5:00 p.m. start would be a good compromise for the first 3 games.

Good idea, then we can look forward to people explaining that they had to leave early because their kids were too hot at the september games.

probably have to do 7 or 6 at the earliest for anything before Sept 15, then dial it back to 6pm for the rest of September games, and 5pm for all of October. May not be what the focus groups say, but i sure would try it.

They are leaving early now, maybe because it's past their bedtime.

I had the same frustrations with the crowd, but I also understand some people's reasons for leaving (kids, etc.)

Solution: I agree - winning cures all. WHEN we start winning, GJF will be packed, and losing 2-300 for baby duty won't look devastating to the crowd size.

However, I would really like to hear some more noise on the west side of the stadium. The lack of enthusiasm when we would convert a difficult first down, or pin Navy to a 3rd & long was frustrating to me. It sounded like the middies were making a LOT more noise than we were (granted they traveled well).

Maybe it was my cough syrup mixed with 35+ beers, but I was less than pleased. So displeased in fact, I plan to publicly apologize to the season ticket holders in my section. My passion took a most inappropriate turn.

Also, kudos to the student section. They have shown well at ECU, TCU, and again v Navy. They are up, loud, and stayed the whole game. That is new and great to see.
