You think the average editor knows much about the sports history of SMU? In my time the DC was mostly ultra-leftist anti-football hacks. Hopefully it is different now.

So what exactly does one's philisophical\political views\beliefs have to do one's like or dislike of football\sports? If there is no rational connection, then why link the two in your comments.

No one in the state has those kind of stones. And that's my point.

No story, no penalty.

(I'd do it, though. So if anyone has any info on UT, PM me. :) )

Be sure and watch Thad's movie when it comes out.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

I was at SMU from 1972-1976 and in my senior year was a sports writer for the Daily Campus. As a right-wing zealot, I was on the staff because one of the left-wing nut jobs challenged me to write if I though I could do better. Trust me, being a journalist is much harder than being a fan. I followed on the heels of the Era of Granberry and Dent at the DC Sports Department. Granberry did break the story about Coach Smith paying players, and led to a loss of TV and bowls in 1974 and 1975. But he did it because it was a great story and trust me, I had a very long talk about that with him. He also wrote the famous line after Peruna left a gift at TCU, "SMU dumps on TCU". Dent of course later become a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and author. Needless to say, I was a step down, but stuck with it through the year.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
