The way JJ explained it was that SMU was giving UH the deep ball and playing tight on the short stuff. That's no excuse for what UH did. Jenkins was like Mike Leach. Plain and simple. Wasn't it pretty embarassing what Notre Dame was doing...kneeling on third down and running out of bounds?

BTW, while A&M won in College Station, UT lost 47-9 to the Coogs that year.

I don't think Forrest was happy with what Notre Dame did either but I think he took it better than the crap UH did. Plus, I've heard Andre Ware discuss the same thing about our coverage and their rationale to go after it. Might be one of the most gutless justifications out there.

Plain and simple, UH people knew they screwed up and wound losing more over it bc they were nationally villified for it. However, they never showed any remorse either. That made it worse.

Even if we were giving the deep ball they called a timeout with just seconds left in the half to try and throw another one deep to pad Ware's stats. That is why Coach Gregg was so upset. They were up by about 5 TDs already and just could have ran a draw but they called timeout.

General is right on with this one. Objective people from around the country wrote articles about how it was classless, and we all now what Glanville did in support of our guys. Best part is 4 years later we beat them with the same kids and our QB from that team is successful in business in New York with many others from that team who graduated while their supposed stud RB and others from Houston team are not.

Yes, SMU got a vindictive win. We were terrible in 1993. How has the record been since then?

While 'Spoon may not be a successful business man, Andre Ware -- the QB of that team -- is bound to be making more than your QB at the time.

Average salaries probably have a high correlation with average SAT scores and inversely correlated with wins. Hasn't SMU reduced its admissions standards for football players in recent years?

andre ware rated number 1. Biggest Heisman flops

I remember that game as well. a bush league run up by Houston. Every time we play them I recall that game. As for Lou Holtz, he offered to release SMU from the game but Forest said he would play. Lou holtz had the class to not run it up and I often think of that when I see him.

One of the few head coaches in Redskins history that actually makes Jim Zorn look like a professional.

Proof of that?

Unlike most of you, I was at that game and know all of the stats. UH could have put up 200 points if they wanted.

Don't want UH to throw deep? Don't put 9 men in the box. SMU ran the R&S too so their coaches should have known what would happen.

Should UH have run with 9 men in the box? We really only had 1 RB that week. The back up RB (All Pro Kimble Anders) was primarily playing WR due to UH have 6 WRs injured.

But did you really want UH to run the ball? Spoon had 207 yards and 3 TDs on only 15 carries. That's almost 14 yards a carry and a TD every 5 times he rushed the ball. Maybe we should have given him 25 carries. That would make 5 TDs and 345 yards rushing. I don't know how many yards or carries Anders had, but I know his last carry was for 21 yards.

The UH 2nd and 3rd team defense came in during the 2nd quarter. They didn't blitz a single time. How many defenses don't blitz a single time against a R&S team?

At least I'll give you guys credit for not using the urban myths/lies about Ware playing the whole game or that we were desperately trying to score at the end of the game to break 100 especially since Klingler took a knee the last 3 plays around SMU's 17 yard line.

Forrest Gregg hates John Jenkins so much, he hired him:

"We feel very good about being able to get John Jenkins and have him working for us," said Forrest Gregg, executive vice-president of football operations for the Renegades. "John is a very motivated, self-starter who has a good idea for finding players and a solid track record of recruiting top talent." Forrest Gregg, 2005.

This sophomoric attitude is so typical of the Cougar High Clowns! Another reason why these dipsticks still continue to not get it.
