I think this is very true. I think we can expect the same kind of competition at the wideout spot, they as a whole have not been stellar either.

Please, let us pick up a JUCO QB in the off-season.
Does JJ ever pick up JUCO QB's? I thought he prefers to coach recruits from their Freshman year so they can really learn the system....a JUCO may finally 'get' the system but then may only have one year left.

If my memory serves me correct, June tried to bring in a JUCO QB in his first recruiting class, but Kevin Craft selected UCLA over SMU. I personally liked what I saw out of Padron in Houston, but it sounds like Bo is going to be healthy enough to play by this weekend and will likely get the start. Bo has not shown me enough growth over his year and a half to justify being our starting quarterback after this season. I don't mind if June opts for Kyle and we finish this season 5-7, but set ourselves up for next year with Kyle at the helm. I feel like he has a better football IQ and can be the offensive weapon that we need on the field, not the game manager that Bo struggles at.

I personally Padron is already much further along than blm, granted he does not have as much college experience as blm, but one thing he does have is that in hs he was brough up in an offense that threw the ball a lot. no one taught the spread in hs football better than todd dodge. look at what he did with chase hasson, chase daniel, mcilroy and even his son. i know dodge was not padrons coach his final 2 years, but hasson kept the same system that dodge had at slc. the kid has football smarts and already knows how to read defenses better than blm when blm was a freshmen last yr. that is why i think we should work on developing padron the rest of the year.

If BLM can't go, I like the idea of a QB shuffle. With their different skill sets, at least Padron and Smith give the defense two different approaches to prepare for. The downside is a limited playbook. Defense, special teams and the running game will really have to pick it up

I agree with you. Teams will have limited film and information about Padron, and therefore will have to prepare for the looks he and Smith give, and their differing skill sets. Plus, it allows each guy to get a lesson or words of advice from JJ while the other guy is out there.
Regardless of who plays, I hope the MRI shows no major damage for Bo Levi Mitchell, and hope he feels better quick.

What's with the fascination with JJ McDermott? He's a transfer from NEW MEXICO STATE. He may be a diamond in the rough, but not many diamonds are recruited to New Mexico State. I don't care if Hal Mumme was the one doing the recruiting or not. And there are high schools besides Katy that produce college quarterbacks.
At the recruiting event back on signing day, JJ did say that he thought that JJ McDermott had the potential to be an NFL QB. He has never said that about BLM.........

Colt Brennan.
Colt Brennan was only at JUCO because he got kicked out of CU amidst the height of the scandals during the Gary Barnett years. I think he may have been a walk-on at CU, but that is still a little different than a straight up didn't get an offer anywhere so I am at JUCO guy.

Colt Brennan played QB in high school behind the guy who went and played QB at USC, Matt Linner. Only reason Colt did not get offers to Div. 1 schools. Walked on at Colorado, then Juco, then on to success at Hawaii.

I highly doubt Braden sees significant time this week. Based on inside sources, JJ used Braden to run the ball because UH's run defense sucked. Tulsa's is significantly better, so if BLM is a no-go, it will be Padron Patron time.
