Will university park allow such a structure to be built? There were restrictions regarding the height of the stadium(which is beautiful) and thats the reason its dug into the ground.

If UP has an issue, it may have to be somewhere on the other side of central expressway, although they might even extend that way too(not sure).

Just as an aside. Josh McDaniels with the Broncos may turn into the best coach in the NFL. Recently during a spell of bad weather in Denver he held practise outside rather than in the Bronco's inside facility, saying, "we play outside, why not practise outside?" Makes sense to me.

The old Mrs. Baird's property is in Dallas, not UP or HP. Therefore it would be a possible site although a little inconvenient.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

You have issues with lightning. Also, We are a passing offense and need to work on timing. It is not easy to do that in pouring down rain, snow or ice, especially in December if we are preparing for a bowl game. Also, we are being recruited against by other teams that have IPF's that are telling recruits not to come here because of that.

I would think that the times when you really need an indoor facility is limited, however, it would probably be a nice recruiting tool more than anything...need to show that we have everything the other schools have, but ours is nicer.

From what I have heard the Mrs Bairds site is going to be converted into uperclassmen housing at somepoint.

Again, why is this taking so long? TCU wants one and gets one built quick--an example of the administration and athletic department working together.

We have space issues and we are not going to build an aluminum siding unairconditioned barn like TCU did.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I think we should not get one like the Cowboys had either.

What about the sky shot that Couchem took? Looks like we could have room across from the stadium.

The space issues are more general. TCU has approximately 1.5 times the acreage that SMU does. Further, as mentioned, TCU doesn't have quite the zoning issues that SMU does. It isn't that there is not square footage to shoehorn a practice facility into, the issue is that space is a more valuable commodity at SMU.

Keep in mind the long-term plan to require Sophomores to live on campus will require additional housing

They are building the additional housing where the old Mrs. Baird's bakery is now. The shot where Couchem put the UT IPF would be a good fit. Also for jtstang and PonyPride, the people that built the Cowboys facility are no longer in business now to my understanding,

I agree that's the ideal place for it. It is, I believe, the Potomac Park plot of land. Unfortunately, I think there would be UP issues with it...wasn't it gifted to SMU, or bought, or something? I remember reading something about it when it was acquired.

No, he plopped it down on the Dedman Center parking lot which doubles as stadium parking on gamedays when the Dedman Center is closed. Potomac Park is more of a glorified median just north of the shopping centre on Mockingbird.

If SMU is going to build a indoor practice facility, I highly doubt it will be on top of the Dedman Center parking lot. With Mrs. Baird's eventually being demolished for dormitories, that really only leaves somewhere east of 75.

Until they break ground, I don't think you can take anything SMU has planned as far as brick and mortar goes as a certainty.
