I would submit that back to back 1-11 seasons was bad for SMU. The horse thing, to quote jt, has been and continues to be much ado about nothing.

Re: New gameday players walk to the stadium
Amen to that.
Re: New gameday players walk to the stadium
genius
Re: New gameday players walk to the stadiumCan someone explain exactly what they add to the overall scene of things? When your "Mascots" are as unnoticeable as these two are -- especially at the game as they just stood there and stood there and stood there -- I'm not seeing how this adds to the overall bit.
Re: New gameday players walk to the stadiumBack in the day...players used to go to chapel at Perkins Chapel and then walk the boulevard to Ford prior to the game. I think the band or a portion of the band played and marched in front of them to attract attention. People did cheer the players and walk along side of them. It's going to take a lot to get people off the boulevard and I'm not sure this is it.
Re: New gameday players walk to the stadium
They received a raucous welcome at the Navy game and the thousands of people who saw the Mustang Walk loved them [/varsityshop]
Re: New gameday players walk to the stadiumif we want to look bad-ass we definitely need some State Troopers following June Jones around. That's how we do it in the South.

Re: New gameday players walk to the stadium
Bingo. And they need to wear those hats. I love the postgame interviews with the troopers.
Re: New gameday players walk to the stadiumNotices CalallenStang has to lie to make his anti-Mustang agenda work again. Like Peruna was ever going anywhere.
Re: New gameday players walk to the stadiumThey need to figure out how to get this thing on the boulevard - could be a good new tradition (as opposed to the horseys - not a good new tradition). howdy I and doody I - look dorky if you ask me - but that has been covered. If you do a stadium walk, do it where your fans are. The perkins to the stadium thing is a good idea.
The Bulldog run at Georgia is a good example - gets a ton of energy going before the game - and people actually follow them into the stadium - which we could use a little work on.
Re: New gameday players walk to the stadium
![]() Student Senate resolution results: 32 - In favor of Peruna being ONLY mascot in Ford Stadium 3 - Against Peruna being ONLY mascot in Ford Stadium Those Mustangs sure do have a lot of support.
Re: New gameday players walk to the stadiumMy guess is they are getting the Mustangs used to the environment -- being at a football stadium on game day and around crowds before they have them walk down the esplanade, etc.
Re: New gameday players walk to the stadiumwith the addition of a couple of cold adult beverages - it is possible the new cowboys and their equipmentless steeds would be roundly booed if they go down the boulevard.
Re: New gameday players walk to the stadiumand if our geldings get sick we can always borrow the OSU Cowboys geldings:

Re: New gameday players walk to the stadiumBTW, who are the guys riding the geldings? Do we pay them? Are they now or will they be in the future SMU students?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
