thanks for proving that we have the weakest fans ever. and we wonder why no one comes to support a team on the cusp of bowl eligibility? do you think texas fans pull for OU every game except when they play? Do ohio state fans pull for michigan? Give me a break. I wish smu fans were more die hard

Oh please. SMU fandom should be judged on how much you pull for SMU, not how much you root against somebody else. You've just made me care--hook'em froggies!
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

SMU2007, The reason I pull for the frogs is because they are a small, private institution like SMU. Do I pull for Texas, OU, TTech, Arkansas, Florida etc. -NO. I don't dislike every college football program in America. I am assuming that the only college team you watch is SMU. Therefore, you are either at the stadium every Sat. or glued in front of the TV. Then once the SMU game is over you don't watch another lick of football the rest of the weekend. Also, thanks for answering my parking question.

Go Utes! A TCU win does absolutely nothing for SMU.

DiamondM wrote:And I have news for everyone. TCU winning out does not help "mid-major conferences" plural. TCU being in a BCS game helps TCU and the MWC Period. The MWC is not angling to bust up the BCS, they are ONLY angling to get their admission ticket to the cartel. Their PR campaign is "We Want a Piece of the Action" not "Bust up the BCS".
At the risk of being selfish....Addmitting the MWC to the BCS is likely to come with a requirement to expand to 12 teams with a conference championship game. (Most likely Boise and Fresno--with the third being Nevada, UH, or SMU. Texas team being more likely for recruiting purposes.) We need to win the rest of our games, hope UH loses and finishes unranked, and hope that whatever it takes for the MWC to get in on the BCS happens. I don't really care what happens to the WAC, MAC, and Sun Belt if we can bust our way into that scenario, because I don't think a playoff will ever happen.

I think it would be cool for 3 SWC teams to win major conferences:
UT-Big 12 TCU-MWC SMU or UH-CUSA

Yes, they are our rival, but since they are a small local private school, if TCU is playing most regional schools of note:
UT A&M Tech OU Ark
I am rooting for the frogs every time (even when the SWC was up and running). Or even with national schools:
Mich OhSt Penn USC FSU FL Ala
Again, I am backing them against any of those teams. It's okay to root for your rival as long as you stick behind your own team when it counts. Get over it, they have never been the hated rivals like an OU-UT, A&M-UT, Mich-PennSt, etc. It's okay. Really.

Hate 'em ... not going to root for them. Do they have a good team ... yes. Do they have some fans that I count as friends ... yes. But unless them winning helps SMU directly (not years down the line when they could possibly add to the MWC and it could possibly be SMU), I can't root for a team that plays the way I have seem them play over the last 11 years... classless football.
Go Stangs and whoever plays the little toads!
Sports, and all that implies.

TCU wins - good for mid-major conferences BUT we lose the ability (in the future) to compete for recruits, and lose some of the recognition we might get for making our first bowl in 25 years.
Sounds like we want TCU to lose in my opinion. Thoughts?
It actually helps your recruiting because it proves you don't have to be in an AQ, which none of us ever will, to get to a BCS and possibly NC game. Believe me, I would never recruit SMU fans as I consider you the most hated. However, I would love Top 20 TCU to spank Top 20 SMU every year versus an unranked SMU. Helps us both and I imagine a ton of solid recruits would be at the game. Go Frawgs. Love the new unis also. Much better in person than photo. Thank you NIKE!

I am sure you love having Jeremy Johnson and Ricky Collins at the game. I hope they see through all that ESPN Game Day and BCS talk stuff. You guys got Sam Carter and Blake Roberts from us this year and Josh Boyce from us last year and Blaize Folz from us in the 2008 class. All of these players we needed. So don't come over here saying how much a TCU wins helps SMU. That is ridiculous. Your coaches will only throw it in a recruit's face when they can.

Seems a tad harsh. I thought your defense was completely classless this year with all the head shots... And loved it. Made it nasty and fun. Our players and fans are definitely tuned into next year's rematch. Haven't checked your OOC yet but hope you are undefeated when we meet. Do you think you'll get 20k in the stands assuming we bring 10k?
