If we improve as much next year as we did last year, we will be one of the top defenses in the country related to turnovers. We just need some more depth and for our offense to stop with the three and outs, especially in the second half. As long as the coaches, players and fans don't get complacent with winning six or seven games so they can go to the Hawaii bowl every year, we should be fine. If you are not getting better, you are getting worse. Championships are the goal! Undefeated seasons and BCS bowls are next. National championships to follow.

the concern next year will be the secondary and it will be a big concern.

Rock Dennis and Hudman graduate at the safety spot and
McCann graduates at corner and
We're not sure Bell is going to make it back.

Its going to be interesting to see how the redshirts perform in spring ball and if anyone coming in makes an impact.

Either way we are going to be very young back there.

well at least you dont have unrealistic expectations....

Folks - our schedule next year does not bode well for a big jump in record - or any jump in record for that matter. If we can pull off 6 or 7 wins next year it would reflect a big imporvement in the team - given the tougher schedule.

Trust me - I am an optimist and think the program is improving - but take a look at the schedule before you call me a defeatist. JJ's system is good at churning outa bowl eligbile number of wins in a conference like CUSA - but it wont get us much further since the d will never be our strength.

The way I read Jones statement about getting the offense going enabling him to recruit better defensive players is a recognition that his name attracts good to very good offensive players. When a potential recruit thinks of a June Jones team he thinks of great offensive coaching. Defensive recruits will come when we are winning because they want to be on a winning team.

next year key games will be away games at rice, utep, tulane...we get houston and tulsa at home as well as WSU here. TCU, TT, at Navy will be tough

I miss you too Bus and if I had my choice Evan would stay at SMU but I have to let him grow up and learn to be a man...it's difficult but I must let go.

i agree our record may not be drastically different but next year the goal should be to WIN c-usa, which i think is very attainable. going to be tough to do anything against tcu or tech. and navy is always tough. but c-usa teams, we should be right in the mix with

Even if we lose to TT, TCU and Navy next year...as long as we beat WSU at home, we will have the same conference record as we did this year and will be in position for about 7 wins again. Looking at next year is a bit premature though, because a lotttt can happen over the course of the year.
