Re: More Bevo BSRead in the DMN today that TCU had 3 players drafted, with one of the top non BCS recruiting classes for the last 10 years, you would think would have have more than that.
Re: More Bevo BS3 out of only 7 starters lost ain't bad. 8 in two years ain't bad either. 18 players currently on NFL Rosters is pretty good. Matter of fact I'd bet its at or close to the best among all non-BCS schools. How many SMU got? Apparently recruiting matters

Re: More Bevo BS
Recruiting matters? Wow, I never thought about that one, when I'm raising money for various football projects, like items for weightroom, locker room, donating for recruiting camps (like last night). You love to talk about how certain people, "never add anything of value" to this message board, I'll just keep working to add something of value to our program. I only wave the flag of ONE team, the SMU MUSTANGS! Pony Up!

Re: More Bevo BSYou can be damn sure I'll never give a penny to some "fund" so a Delivery Boy who has his head way too far up the coaching staffs [deleted] can get some goodies as gifts in kind for the players. I know that there are ways that gifts in kind can be made to the university but that ain't the way to do it. If SMU wants some gifts-in-kind then I suggest they go through official avenues to publicly solicit those gifts. Delivery Boy calling all his friends to hit them up for cash ain't the way to do it. Again, there is no way in hell I would ever donate cash to any fund for SMU that I had no idea who was accounting for the receipt of such funds or how they were spent or that it was even authorized by the university. I think its an incredibly stupid idea-thought that immediately when you told me about it. I was shaking my head thinking you were such an idiot. And if SMU is allowing fans to make these solicitations in the very unprofessional way that it was presented to me w/o from some guy who is not an official representative of the university or the athletic department then they are asking for trouble. The only donation I will ever or have ever given to SMU is through the Mustang Club or the SMU Alumni Association. PERIOD. I really don't give a damn what you think about that-that's the way its going to be. So you can please forever take me off the Delivery Boy Special Gifts in Kind Fund "for the Players".

Re: More Bevo BSHow unbelievably irresponsible, for you to even insinuate something like this. But, we both know that you will put up any type of smoke screen, to try and justify being a tight wad with your money, and very "liberal" with spending someone else's money. All projects did go through proper channels, and receipts mailed from accounting for tax purposes. SD wasn't built by me being a "delivery boy", even though that would not be an insult to be a delivery person, it's good honest work. Don't forget that I know you, and while you like to beat your chest about "your citations" etc...one has to wonder why you're still a 25 year associate, at a very small firm. You are correct on my calls to you, I used to try and befriend you, because, after many years of always seeing you alone, I thought if you had an ally, maybe the bitterness would subside, but, I've given up, because you can't hug a porcupine.
Re: More Bevo BSStallion, you can not have it both ways. Either Texas has the most players in the NFL because they got the best recruits or Texas has the most players because "they get you there."
It seems to me that if you are a talented player you do not need to go to Texas to get to the NFL. How many NFL talent level players got buried on the bench at Texas? ![]() Go Ponies!!

Re: More Bevo BSWith respect, this type of "discussion" does not belong on this forum. It should be private and one wonders what visitors to this SMU forum thinks about SMU alums. Please let us observe some decorum and use good judgment about our postings.
Re: More Bevo BSWhat exactly is the policy of SMU with regard to solicitors of SMU and the Mustang Club harassing donors on a public forum? I may have to check that out. Last year I gave $1,750 to SMU and/or the Mustang Club. In the last 3 years its up to very close to $3,000 not including 2 season ticket packages each year. You have repeatedly mentioned on this board my failure to give to this fund. I will not give to any "fund" that is not payable to the order of the "Mustang Club" or the "Alumni Association." Immediately desist any further reference to my failure to give to the Delivery Boy Special Fund for gifts in kind.

Re: More Bevo BSBefore Jones was here you refused to join the Mustang club because you alone were fighting the good fight to get the "model" changed--yeah, you alone. You are keenly aware that the school and the althletic department have numerous, legitimate fund raising activities not directly connected with the Mustang Club or the Annual SMU drive. I have been involved with a number of them, from relocating the economics department, to getting special projects, generally facilities, in the athletic department. Quit trying to denegrade people that support SMU and their particular interests, by suggesting that somehow these activities are inappropriate. And who are you to pass judgement? Not everyone can afford to contribute for a practice field or practice facility, yet like to take pride in building some tanglible asset. Look, you are just cheap. No one faults you because of that, that is just you. But, don't start throwing stones. Personally, I don't know why you even come to these SMU forums, why not just stick with the shorthorns.

That's it, he will rush to defend every team out there, but always find a way to bash our Mustangs! ![]()
Re: More Bevo BSClarify by better draft results I meant based on developing the kids they have taken out of high school to prepare for the NFL and be draft eligible. How many of TCU's kids when enrolling as freshman in college were being projected as future NFL draftees compared to Texas.....or even USC or Florida? Probably 0 compared to maybe 15-20? So if TCU had 3 or 4 drafted compared to 5 or 6 at Texas I would say TCU did the better job of preparation. TCU has had at least five guys taken in the last two drafts that project as NFL LB's. That has to be right up there with anybody in the country.
