Re: Harvey Perlman on ExpansionIsnt vandy in the SEC? - better school then any in the Big 12. Except maybe Tech. (thats a joke, by the way).
Re: Harvey Perlman on Expansion
Vanderbilt raises the score for the entire SEC, plus good BB and baseball. Does UT think the Big XII is stronger than the SEC? I don't think so. FL, GA, and AL would argue the point. Pony Up
Re: Harvey Perlman on ExpansionThere are two simple reasons UT is interested in switching conferences. Revenue sharing and a low TV contract. Period. If the conferences go to 16, the BIG 12 will disappear. There will be 4 16 team conferences. There are not enough major markets in the big 12
Re: Harvey Perlman on ExpansionRevenue sharing? In the Big 12? The problem is that there isn't much. Texas gets all the money. Oklahoma and Nebraska get the rest. That's why Missouri wants to leave, and a big reason why Colorado would leave. Texas would lose millions if they were in a conference with revenue sharing. It would have to be offset by the tv contract for Texas to want to go anywhere.
Re: Harvey Perlman on Expansion
Texas is going wherever the most money can be found. Of course Texas likes the status quo: DeLoss Dodds practically invented the Big 12. Problem is, if the Big 12 implodes, which I think is likely, Texas and A & M will be have to go either the SEC or the PAC 10. Academics? Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Kansas State are glorified JCs. Baylor? A vacation Bible School now being run by a man who is a joke among academics. SEC would be a lateral move at worst.
