Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMUIts funny when SWC broke up there were reports of a similar Big 8/SWC merger for the exact same purpose. Its like deja vu all over again
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMU
Yes, and I can guarantee that then as now sports programming departments will have more to do with realignment than any college president.
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMUOh, I think there are some things SMU can do to get ready. The first is to make sure everyone is on the same page, the administration, board, coaches and athetic department. We can't open an invitation to days of debate, but will need to react with confidence that everyone is on board in quick fashion. Just suppose one Sunday night at 10:00PM the Big Twelve invites TCU and SMU together to keep the conference together after MO and CO leave. Do you think TCU would take more than a minute to say "yes"? How long would our various committees want their say so and debate the issues? Hopefully, only seconds from TCU's acceptance.
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMU
Trust me when I say this, but the Athletic Dept, Board of Trustees, and Turner are dilligently working on a plan. They want to make the step up, and although it is an uphill battle they are on the same page. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMUTrue SMU positives going into these realignment scenerios is JJ & Co. and our Circle of Champions. Fact is these guys are committed to our future success without the problems of the old days.
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMURemember that comment that JJ made at one point that there was a reason that he came to SMU that he wasn't prepared to reveal yet? Could it be possible that he wants his coaching legacy to be the guy who took SMU back to the big leagues?
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMUAny hope of realignment requires a competitive basketball program for us to be considered. Right now we are not ready.
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMU
If that is true then TCU is in a heap of trouble as well. When will I start feeling stimulated??
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMU
You are correct. Coach Doh has one year to get his house in order or his house may be up for sale. Steve's patience is wearing thin.
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMUUtah and Colorado ARE going to the Pac 10...My guess it will be annoucned sometime in mid June...
I have a feeling Big 10 will be adding Mizzu, so Big 12 is up for grabs....
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMU
We should put geldings on the side of the court. Then the basketball team will win!
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMU
I agree, the basketball team can have the 2 geldings since they were so responsible for the football teams improved play....I am willing to roll the dice with peruna...
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMU
Delusion is funny.
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMU
I'd prefer seeing a little guy like this for SMU Hoops games and the kids would love it! ![]() C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Realignment: Scenerios That Involve SMUI agree with those who believe our leadership team has a plan and is working on executing it. I fear however, that the real goal of the reallignment is to reduce the number of BCS schools to about 30. If my fear is correct it does not bode well for us despite the best efforts of our team. Our stadium is too little, we can't fill what we have and our TV ratings are not good enough for us to land in the BCS. I hope I am wrong about my fears.
