He could run circles around you intellectually, if your presence here on the board is any indication. He was dying. So leave the guy alone and move on. SMU is in a different place now.
I am glad he is dead.

I see Boise State going to the PAC 10 before TCU. I know Texas does not like the "lack of academics" in the SEC but I think the SEC would be a better fit than the PAC 10. I say that based on, you are not playing games at nine or ten o'clock in the evening Texas time, your travel cost I think would be lower and the alumni can travel easier. Also, with the earlier starting times comes more exposure.
Also, if the big 12 does implode I wonder what happens to Kansas and Kansas State? Can their athletic budgets really afford them to be in the PAC 10? As for our dear old Ponies I guess we pick up the pieces with what is left over MWC teams and teams within the five state area, the expanded WAC again. WHAT A MESS!!
Thanks for posting that, Stallion.

And Nebraska is certain for the Big Ten/11.

So with those 2 statements the big 12 is dead...
They can't afford to lose both CU and Nebraska

They won't play on Sundays which creates some scheduling issues; it remains to be seen whether or not the B12 will work around that.

As I said in another post, Texas may price themselves and/or snob themselves out of some deals and may end up forming their own conference that they can dominate like they have dominated the Big XII (deal wise). The SEC and the PAC 10 won't want to pay the Whorns what the Whorns think they are worth. That leaves the Big Ten and what's left of the Big XII. I think from the leaks we are seeing the Whorns gave the Big Ten such a high price tag they decided to look eastward at NYC instead of the Texas market. So, that leaves the leavings of the Big XII. So, I would not be surprised if the Whorns ended up staying put in a ravamped Big XII in which they could dictate the flow of $$$$.

I think UT told the Big 10 that there is no way in hell we are playing in your mediocre Northern Conference.

Sounds like the Horns prefer being a big fish in a smaller pond. I have never thought that the Big Ten was a real option, geographically, for them. If SEC isn't attractive from an academic POV, the PAC-10 doesn't work unless you bring 4 teams from the Central/Mountain Time Zones and the Big XII is a lesser conference with NE, MO and CO gone, then their option$ are . . . ?

I just don't see Texas alienating their fan base in Texas who like to travel as long as it is within 4-6 hours. i don't see them going to the Pac 10 and a different time zone for late night viewing and travel compared to a conference where most of their fans and teams can travel, even if there may be more tv dollars. I don't think Mack, Deloss and Augie want to go to a conference like the SEC where they will not be one of the two top teams (ou and ut) every year and take a chance on these spoiled ut fans who accept no less than 10 win seasons and bcs bowls and college world series appearances. The sec will raid Texas recruits even more than the big 12 north if ut and am join the sec diluting the ut strangehold on all those great players who sit on the bench for 4 or 5 years due to the stockpiled talent level. I say ut stays in place knowing they are a big dog like nd who can always change their minds if it doesn't work out.

So the Big XII needs to add at least 3 (with CO, NE and MO leaving) or more, if 14 or 16 teams become the norm, to dominate the rebuilt Big XII? Who are the candidates? Could they tolerate old SWC mates? Invite BYU or other MWC teams in the Mountain Time, NM, AF, CSU and/or Wyoming? Arkansas is a great option, but is it realistic?
