There are two sides to this issue. I don't want to see a kid leave SMU unable to read like Dexter Manley did from OSU. That does no one any good. That said, we have got professors who are not anti-athlete and we have classes that don't require a lot of high academic thought. But we are a liberal arts university who prides itself on requiring certain humanities courses to be passed by the students. Jones does pride himself on making the kids do the work required to advance which is part of why he was hired here. I believe that if he feels that the students aren't making grades that they should just leave because they ought to be able to stay eligible.

First off, how did Padron get thrown into this discussion?

2nd, this isn't rumor and will be public sometime today or tomorrow. Cat meet the outside of the bag.

I think Padron got thrown in because of your statement about the run and shoot.

LOL, lip service doesn't make this reality. He's recruiting tons of kids that are going to face this same fate. This isn't Hawaii, and he's treating it like they are similar institutions. As others have stated, even the playing field or recruit kids that can make it here. Same goes true for hoops.

Ooops, my bad. Kyle is fine, folks. He just doesn't have anyone to throw the ball to

You asked "what does the run and shoot pride itself on?"

June says #1 is QB. So I guess you did.... :D

What are the academic requirements? Is the semester already over? IF some failed to meet requirements, is there a chance of summer school to regain eligiblity?

I asked the same question. I have no idea how this works. Maybe they lost too many hours to make up.

you also have to consider those Academic Progression Toward Degree provisions the NCAA passed.

1) The education school isn't operating at 100% yet.

2) In the state of Texas, you cannot "major" in Education.
