Pretty much exactly what Texas has said all along

Texas No. 1 alternative is, and always will be, keeping the Big 12 together. It has and will continue to dominate the Big 12 because nobody except OU can even come close to competing with them for Texas recruits and there aren't any recruits relatively in the other Big 12 states. Its Nebraska and Missouri who are destabalizing the conference. Texas has about 35 times the recruits Nebraska has and that's not going to change.

Right now Texas and OU can count on a straight shot to a National Championship Game by beating the other. Count the number of times those two have been in the National Championship not including Texas near miss by decimal points in 2008. Why would they want to dilute that by dealing with USC which annually in this decade has had the best talent in the country

Ooo, if so it's not been by much. Texas recruiting has been awfully impressive. Talk about having your way with one of the two most fertile recruiting grounds.

I've always assumed that the "UT Channel" was a way to extort more money from their broadcast partners, rather than a legitimate conduit for Football broadcasts and other quality sports. For example, when UT plays a Rice/UNT/enter your favorite cream puff here, instead of it being broadcast on ESPN pay-per-view or whatever, they can shop it around trying to pull as much as coin as possible with the fall back plan of putting it on the mother ship if they can't get the value they're seeking.

While the network won't produce the type of money that the B10 network does, I think it would be successful. Every gap-toothed high school drop out buys a UT hat and tank top at the local Wal-Mart and roots for them.
