Probably TCU begging to go to the Pac-10 instead of Colorado/Baylor. My guess is that DeLoss laughed in his face.

The thread has the tone of the TCU people 12-15 years ago before they decided to quit feeling sorry for themselves and do something about it........and look where they are now. BCS bowls, super regionals! How about getting after it to make SMU attractive for the next realignment. SMU is under-achieving big-time with all it has to offer.

how exactly are we screwed? did anyone think we were going to be invited into the BCS cartel any time soon? we made our beds 20 years ago and are where we are because of the lack of commitment to competing at the highest level...but let's not forget that even when we were winning SWC Championships, we STILL relied on Texas, Arkansas and A&M fans to fill the seats at Texas Stadium.
I'm not sure we will ever again compete with Texas and the big boys on the gridiron...at least not day in, day out. If/when we field a team the caliber of TCU/Boise, rest assured Texas will not be looking to schedule us.
CUSA is not a bad place for SMU right now, but it can be improved on and if these "super" conferences come to fruition, I would expect more "regionalization" among the "next tier" group, of which we will clearly be a part.

Could be worse...Baylor gets left in the cold after spending and borrowing all that money to improve their facilities. I think they have finally righted the ship, but had this happened 4 or 5 years ago they could have been in real financial trouble.
The good news, we can recruit against Kansas and Baylor--at least we have a conference to claim. No word on MO? Are they going to get left out also? And Utah, they thought they were headed west. Think OSU or Tech will ever smell a conference championship? And our friends at A&M will be back hiring and firing coaches every three years.
This thing could very well play out for us. Some of these teams should be carefull for what they wish for and the "fat lady hasn't sung".

heck if we keep UH, add Baylor and send Tulane East (if there is even an East when this ends) its not the end of the world for a school that's been to hell and back. We'd have Baylor,TCU, UH, on our schedule which could create some rivalries. At least Tulsa is a private school doing pretty much everything they can to compete. Baylor will compete at the top of CUSA right off the bat despite what some of you think. Its the Rices and Tulanes trying to play DiA on their own terms that really bug me. I hope we can somehow hang onto Southern Miss. Get the feeling UCF, ECU and Memphis are probably gone. That leaves Marshall with no reason to stay. If we load up CUSA with a bunch of Sun Belters I'm going to puke. Stay at 9 or 10.

What are the odds of the Big 12 not getting enough votes to dissolve and force penalties?
THen they start taking the best of MWC and Conf. USA....
It sounds like a great idea if you are KU/KSU/Baylor....

Penalties will likely be forced, unless the Big Ten offers Mizzou as well. No way we're getting into a revamped MWC/Big 12. Big 12 leftovers are BU, KU, KSU, ISU, and Mizzou (maybe). What seven teams would they add in hopes of remaining an AQ conference? Here's the candidates: Utah BYU TCU Boise Memphis CSU AFA Houston UNLV Nevada NM SMU Tulsa Not sure where we fall exactly in that pecking order, but I don't think we crack the top seven. Our best case scenario might be Big Ten going to 16 by adding Mizzou (opening up an eighth B12 spot) and the BE snatching up Memphis. But it's still a crapshoot.

watch the Pac-10 not take Colorado because of their academic issues, and take Utah instead. Missouri's not going to the Big 10 either. So, you could have Colorado Missouri KU K State Iowa State Baylor Air Force BYU Houston Memphis TCU Boise leaving SMU to be in a WAC-ish redux with UNM UTEP Tulsa Wyoming Colo State UNLV Nevada Rice Hawaii NMSU La Tech Fresno Tulane

DMA Rankings: 16. Denver 31. Salt Lake City I dont think that's going to happen. Plus the hippies in Boulder fit in much better to the Pac-10 than the fundamentalist Mormons in Utah.

We have a President on our side, a boatload of very rich alums, two NFL owners, June Jones. We are in Dallas with 80,000 seats in Arlington and 80,000 seats in Fair Park we can play games in against huge draws. We are obviously trying now.
SURELY we can pull a favor with someone somewhere.
I would hope that with all of this, we can land a spot in whatever MWC/Big12 hybrid that comes about when Texas bolts.

I wouldn't be surprised if Colorado is the first to accept to cut off Texas politics with regard to Baylor and so Texas doesn't look like the bad guy. APR keeping them out-0% chance

Baylor's best hope is for Kenneth Starr to look for some "dirt" on the President [of some of these schools] He's good at that.
