Looks like the best path for me is buy an additional antenna for $99 and a tripod for $50.00 bring my box and try and get a connection.

One last question are the little posts up all year, or just on game days?

ALSO!! Makes sure when you buy your tripod dish that you get the proper one if you want HD or multiple boxes. A lot of the ones people sell advertise crap like "great for camping & tailgating" are just a basic 1 LNB dish and won't support HD or multiple sources.

The best one DirecTV uses is the new slimline, but I would check with someone that knows Dish Network installation.

ETA: Posts are permanent if you want to scope them out.

This one matches my 720 dual HD box

Didn't we all figure out that you are on the other side of the median, on the adjacent to the south bound lane of Bishop, not the north?

Do you own your Dish box or is the lease? In case you care, your lease agreement does not allow you to remove from your house. Just an FYI.

it really depends on where you are. i'm down in 60 & 61 and we tried dish a year ago, and couldn't get a signal through all the trees. would have had to run 150' of cable to a clear sight line.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

With the recent switch to digital broadcasts that are free locally. I get stoned cold crystal clear pictures on those channels via a $30.00 RCA digital antenna. South of Dallas.

I didn’t want to bring a mini TV and antenna up to test it today. I will just ask here does it work?

i just checked www.antennaweb.org and it looks like we will at least be able to get ABC & CBS digitally on the 'vard. i hadn't thought of this option for digital HDTV, but will have a flatscreen out this year.

You know that liquor is not allowed on campus. Why do you insist on defying this administration?

I would try a dry run with both if you can. I had no problem getting a sat signal, yet we could never get a digital antenna to work properly (tried everything from cheap to $80- no difference).

Having Binkley to your south should give you a pretty good line of sight for the dish. But, like some have said, if you don't have a shot through the trees, it will be tough getting the dish to acquire a signal.

Another thing to consider on dish is the local channels. You get those through what they call a spot beam. I'm trying to find spot beam maps to help you out, but if your subscription/home setup is far enough away from the SMU to use a different spot beam, you won't be able to get local channels.

ETA: Checked on the spot beam for DFW. If you receive our locals now, you're good to go on Dish Network.
