Having been at a lot of practices going all the way back to the first OTAs, I can tell you they mix up the rotations a lot, so McCann will cover a starter on one play and moments later be lined up across from a free agent.
I agree that it may not mean much -- that was my knee-jerk reaction to the quote about Gordon having 'locked down' the 4th corner spot because he got a pick against the 3rd team offense.
I think, your post and the last few others provide much more informational insight as to how they all really stack up against each other.
It's useful to hear that the Cowboys will fully evaluate their undrafted free-agents in an 'equal opportunity' manner. I have read a number of reports from other camps where udfa's are not often worked into the 1st team rotations regularly until their performance/circumstances allow them that opportunity, especially given the finite number of snaps available, even in practice -- so that may have colored my interpretation of the reported observation.
Anyway, nonsensical rambling on my part. I appreciate the reliable info provided.
At the very least, it sounds like Bryan is holding his own. It seems like the worst-case scenario is either the practice squad, or being cut, but having made enough of an impression that he'll get referred to another team via some coaching connection?
