9. Who will play cornerback opposite Sterling Moore? He is an All-Conference (potentially) cornerback but whoever plays on the other side will have no experience at this level.
8. Can the offensive line protect Kyle Padron at quarterback? I expect Texas Tech and TCU to blitz
like crazy against us.
7. Can anyone replace Shawnbry McNeal at running back? Our two freshmen have lots of potential but will they be ready in just five weeks?
6. How many turnovers will the defence be able to create? We're fast but undersized - we'll need plenty of interceptions and fumble recoveries to compensate.
5. How much will we miss Emmanuel Sanders (and Terrance Wilkerson)? We will need a couple of pleasant surprises at wide receiver.
4. Will this be the year we finally beat Navy? Those undersized, over-achievers drive me nuts.
3. Who will step up to take over from Chase Kennemer as the leader on defence?
2. Will this be the year that we finally sell out Ford Stadium on a consistent basis? I know the luxury suites are filled but it would be great to see the end zone seats packed as well.
1. Are we going to be embarrassed in our season opener on ESPN against Texas Tech? It won't be the end of the world if we lose but it's hard to forget how badly we were embarrassed on national TV three years ago.
Couple of additions...
10. It was, after all, Padron's 2nd start, and the team seemed to progress week-by-week. Hopefully they'll pick up where they left off. But there are, regrettably, numerous question marks (such as #9).
9. ???
8. I think they'll be fine in CUSA play. We'll miss LeRibeus powering the left side of the line -- especially against TT and TCU.
7. I saw the freshman today, and, well, they look like freshmen to me. Neither appeared to be in college football shape. Fields has a light build for an RB at the reported 197 lbs. On the plus side, I imagine he'll probably play -- in the future -- at 6'2 and about 230 lbs. I can see why some people are saying Pope is the more likely to see playing time. Again, he's not yet in the shape he needs to be in yet, but if his knee is good, he's a much more powerful physical specimen.
6. If you slide Frazier over to NT, like some have mentioned we go (l to r) 6'6, 276, 6'3 298 and 6'8 285. Undersized?? I think the issue is more one of depth than size.
5. If you're looking for pleasant surprises at WR, I saw a couple today. DJ looks smooth and appears fully recovered. Holyfield learned how to catch. Haynes is a freakin' beast, and he looks more comfortable than he has in years past. Newcomer Jeremy Johnson looked raw, but as coach Reinbold encouraged his WRs to finish off every play, Johnson flashed some crazy athletic ability –– the man goes from 2nd straight into 5th gear without anything in between. As we saw 2 years ago, a healthy Robinson can be as effective as Sanders.
4. Yes. I think it's a question of when will our D finally have enough athleticism to keep up with Navy's gimmick offense. I think the answer is now. We have size up front and a host of fast, athletic linebackers. I like that matchup.
3. The spiritual leader will be Fleps. The fly around like a maniac and blow up your offense leader will be Ja'Gared Davis.
2. Not yet. Dallasites are too fickle. Maybe, just maybe, we can get the students to show (and stay).
1. I haven't a clue. Will make one hellova interesting opener though!!
