June needs to manage that situation better. He needs to get with Kyle every week and give him 2-3 quick snap plays that can be signaled in to him. He then doesn't have to run over to the sideline to get the next play and they can snap the ball sooner, not giving the refs time to review a play. Having said that, it really didn't matter since we got the ball right back on the muffed punt. The killer play was the one after that when Kyle was hurried and threw up a duck that was easily intercepted.

Before the season, I said that 2009 was an abberation and that I would be happy if we were 6-6 and went to some crummy bowl.
Forget all this junk about JJ going to CU or anywhere else.
Forget about winning CUSA.
We will have to be lucky to win two more games and go to some crummy bowl.
We can't win any game unless the opponent is really bad or if he is not we must come out and play with great intensity and effort for 60 minutes.
We have played one really good team, TCU and they played their worst game against us. We played one decent team, Navy and we competed well against them. Our wins have come against bad teams and we were lucky to win some of them.
I think our coaching staff is much better than the previous staff in all ways which is a commentary on how bad the Phil Bennett staff was.
My biggest concern is JJ's offensive philosophy. I have always been dubious about long term success with the run and shoot because of the basic inability to run out of that offense. What really worries me now is that defenses are more and more tailored to stop a passing offense because of the proliferation of the spread offenses. These defenses are faster and more athletic than the ones tailored to stop power running offenses. The run and shoot was successful, often, against the run stopping defenses but is inherently less likely to be successful against the new defenses because the run and shoot uses the pass to set up the run and since our passing game is not working all that well, the run does not either.
In short, I think JJ needs to modify his thinking about his offense and I am not sure he is capable of that.

It seems to be happening more and more in college football...look at UT, Iowa State, UCLA, OU, Alabama, South Carolina. What a great sport. I don't know of another sport where the defeats are so depressing and the victories so wonderful! A couple of wins against Tulane and UTEP(not an easy task) and we will be back on track to a bowl and chomping at the bit with a bunch of experience going into next year.
