No, i mean the overly critical people who BASH SMU and the players as soon as something doesn't go their way. It's a bit ridiculous. "That was the worst performance i have seen" and "Padron is Killing us" and blah blah blah...like really.............? The worst performance? People expected SMU to walk all over Houston because they had a freshman quarterback. That doesnt mean [deleted] when he still has LEGIT 4.3 weapons at his disposal. People forget those receivers, like the tulsa group, have been together for pretty much their whole college career. They game plan just like everyone else. I know exactly how fast they are...35 is blazing and 83 is faster than he is. People need to be a little more realistic when viewing games instead of expecting blowouts every week. If you have been paying attention, any team can be beaten at any time (every number 1 so far).
SMU took a chance on me. I'll never turn my back on it.

Smooten is dead right. We fans haven't learned realistic expectations. We either suck worse than any team in the history of the world or will spank Alabama -- there is no in between with this group. We are a pretty good team with nice upside. Maybe top 25 in a year or two. But this loss should have shocked no one. JJ's been trying to tell you, most of the teams we play have more talent than we do. Chill. We'll get there. Support your team. No negativism.

I put a stepdaughter through LSU and got used to following their program. Go over to tigerdroppings.com and see how many of those folks know how to temper their expectations after a loss to the now #1 team in America.

I don't agree with the fatalistic diatribes of 'everything sucks,' etc but there is emotion involved and it's not something unique to the fandom of SMU.

The point is made that we do not suck. We have legit players to compete with just about anyone. If you say we have bad players, you have not taken a look at today's players as compared to what we have had in the past.
The team needs to take the next step. Plain and simple.

And I can say whatever I want even though I never "laced 'em up" -- what nonsense.

I know being the favorite to win isn't a lock to win the game, but it seems

like we would have at least kept the score closer.

I had nowhere else to be.....

Was sorry to see the stadium so empty after the restart. Once we resumed play, we seemed to have about 5 times as many fans as UH which was about 20:1 before the delay. What really sucked was the Houston fans were louder than us when they were yelling for their defense. That should never happen at Ford.

@ Ponyboy....exactly.
@ RG....i do know there is emotion involved, especially since this community has been dying for a winning program post death penalty. I get it, but c'mon.
@Jstang....you can drive your car with your feet too, that doesnt make it a good idea now does it? I'm all for giving your outlook on the games. As a player it always helps seeing it from another perspective, but being [deleted] or a dumb [deleted], doesnt help it.
@ Nacho....he does lace his shoes, he just doesn't tie them
@ Bighorse....i completely agree...it got out of hand and it definitely shouldnt have.
@ Moose....same here, i stayed and watched. I wonder how many "die hard" fans actually stayed....

Stayed for the entire game. A group of us flew in from Houston, Midland and Lousiville with our sons, we were not about to leave. Hated the way it ended but this is a marathon, not a sprint.

I stayed for the whole game and I was also disappointed so many left during the delay. I can understand those with young children leaving in that when the game resumed it was close to the time the game would have normally been over and dealing with small children for that length of time crammed into the concourse area probably took its toll on the parents. No real excuse available for the rest.

As for the player's being adversely affected by the reduced crowd size, I would think that they would have enough pride to want to win the game even if played in an empty stadium. The fact is that the better team won the game. Despite their having a freshman QB, they have a lot of big and fast athletic players and a more talented depth of players than we have right now. Their hurry up, no huddle, offense just wore our defensive front down.

Someone mentioned in another thread that the tackling was bad because they were trying to strip the ball out instead of tackling...I agree, that is what it looked like they were trying to do most of the time.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
