With the current state of our bball program we might want to see if we could get them moved to UIL 3-A. At least they might look competitive. :P

( I really don't believe its imminent, probable or even remotely likely) But BYU, ND, Navy, Army, and Air Force already have National Networks/TV Contracts. Those schools would get to keep their TV revenues from their networks while the schools that don't have a network would simply help fill their schedules in Football only and enjoy greater national exposure. Schools like SMU, TCU would join the MVC for other sports.

So this wasn't a joke thread?

What would the non TV contract schools do in terms of getting games on TV? I'm assuming there would be a conference TV package on top of the independent contracts?

The Conference will be named the All America Conference. It will be headquartered in South Bend. It will have a huge TV contract due to the addition of the Service Academies, ND, and BYU. The Big East and ACC are wetting themselves over this and are apparently trying to take pre-emptive action. The pie will be split based upon cumulative TV appearances per team. CUSA and the MWC are going to merge after this.

Imagine the attendance!

it's fun to joke about another round of conference realignment but there is a possible nightmare scenario in all of this, too

imagine the possibilities if TCU and UCF accept football only invites to the Big East...

and the MWC rounds out their 12 member group by adding Boise, Hawaii, Fresno and Nevada from the WAC to replace Utah, BYU and TCU which gets them to 10 members...

and then decides to avoid any private schools and invites UTEP and Houston from CUSA to get to 12

I don't understand why conferences keep mentioning Houston in their realignment talk. I am from Houston and while it does have some solid academic progams to offer people in the area, it is a glorified commuter school. The city does not support the school and any mention of it opening up a media market is way overstated.

Houston happens to be located in one of the largest media markets and a super hot recruiting area. Not to dissimilar form SMU.

This is the age of TV. TV drives a lot of moves these days.

But Houston delivers less of that market then SMU delivers Dallas.

I don't understand this post.

It can't be a real rumor floating around because it is so obviously ridiculous. Nobody would believe this because it makes zero sense.

It could be a complete sarcastic joke, but usually those are more over the top with the delivery. This presented as real isn't funny, it's just sad.

It can't be a "I'm so tired of conference expansion threads, you can start any rumor and people will run with it" type thing because, again, anyone who pays any attention to college football knows it is silly. It is far to ill-conceived to be this.

My very well placed and top secret sources tell me that Rice was included because of their academics, location, baseball and because Duke demanded their inclusion as a term for joining this group.

I don' think EastStang is making this up. I've seen two other sources mention something like this.
Both my blog and twitter have said similar things. Fingers crossed.
