I agree Ponyte.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

20 years is a long time-and I have no problem with Ponyte's idea as long as they are not allowed in any position of authority at SMU or its organizations and have no contact-zero-with SMU student athletes. I do strongly disagree though that what they did was not immoral. It was immoral and unethical on many levels for many years - lying, cheating, brazenly and intentionally breaking rules that they knew they were expected to follow. These are moral standards -rules and regulations of fair play that college fans and athletes are expected to adhere to.

If that nutball can come back, then nobody should be shunned. However, I disagree vehemently with allowing that nutball back, so take this with a grain of salt.

I just don't see what's wrong with letting these guys come to games and donate money to the mustang club. Nobody is advocating that they fly to California with Klemm to go meet recruits.

Off-the-main-topic:

C'mon, ponyte? I know you live in Arkansas, but still your still a smart guy Dr. ... It's banned not band. An SMU band booster is a lot different from an SMU banned booster. ;)

I'm just giving you grief. I was really hopeful to see the tux you wore to the premiere in you know D Magazine, or a night life column. Glorious.

....

On topic:

Most received a band for a year or two or five. Only a couple got a lifetime ban. But in the beginning SMU refused to name the nine banned boosters and let the perception be out there that they were banned for life.

OK Thaddeus...it's ban not band...
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
