As for the SEC, it may be a lot of noise, but I don't sense a lot of groundswell from the president or athletic director's office."

Maybe the A&M President or AD aren't as upset as that A&M booster because A&M announced last summer that *they* were working on getting their own TV network just like Texas was working on. So, the booster probably just has no clue at what his University is actually doing, even though they have publicly discussed their plans.

Also, the rest of the Big 12 met with TV executives and an agency to help them get a TV network deal together, where Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Baylor, etc., would all share in the profits. If they get that going and the conference TV deal gives them $15 mil/year or more, then a school like Iowa State will make more than the SEC's $17.1 mil/year. They sure won't be upset with Texas about that.

Maybe so, but who could blame A&M and Oklahoma if they didn't unite at some point to shift to the SEC, which I think would scoop them up in a second.

Oklahoma is NOT going to join A&M in some negative reaction to UT getting their TV network. Let us look at the facts:

Perhaps so, but you failed to mention the most important fact; Oklahoma is hopelessly jointed to the hip to T. Boone Picken's Juco in Stoolwater. Oklahoma State is like a ball and chain around OU's ankle.

Right, that is another reason why Oklahoma can't easily leave the Big 12 for the SEC and leave behind Oklahoma State. But if Oklahoma will make *more* money in the Big 12, I doubt they want to go anywhere else.

Oklahoma is getting their own TV network while Oklahoma State met with Kansas, Missouri and the others to work on a joint TV network for the Big 12 schools who don't have the juice to get their own networks.

No where near as effective as a Reinbold FB post.

Well...the practices, scrimmages and interviews would be something I'd keep discreet, rather than broadcasting them on national television.
But, whatever...

BYU has their own channel and have been showing BYU lectures, BYU classes, BYU practices and old BYU games ( including the great BYU/SMU Holiday Bowl) for several years now and its hasn't helped or hindered their teams. When they show their practices its not the plays they show but the players, so it won't broadcast what they are practicing on and provide scouting info I can assure you.
Just like The Climb, it doesnt show the plays just the players working hard...and playing hard.
I just think this step was an easy way for Texas to alienate the rest of the Big 12 and when they leave to go their seperate ways (and they will), UT can just go.....'what?...we didn't do anything,.... whats wrong with them anyway?' This is such big business and UT will make so much money by doing this new cable station and THEN be relegated/forced to being an indy at the end of the day, because the Big 12 will fade into nothingness....and thats JUST the way they planned it all along.

However, since technically ESPN will be paying the reporters and running the network, no NCAA rules will be broken...

does anyone really believe that the NCAA has any legitimacy or integrity especially after this Cam Newton debacle? it isn't over and Texas just found an amazing loophole that the NCAA has no clear definition for.

No, no one believes that the NCAA has any legitimacy. If they did, they would have investigated UT and others with the intensity they went after little SMU and given them all the same punishment.

And no, they have no legitimacy because they refuse to sanction a championship in its most important sport because a bunch of corporate shills and powerful coaches don't want all Division 1 schools to ride with them on the BCS gravy train.
