Re: Jeff Reinebold WED.I am talking about kids who are qualified by the NCAA and have been accepted by other schools but not accepted by SMU (just to make sure we are on the same page).

Re: Jeff Reinebold WED.What does "accepted" really mean. To be a qualifier you have to be admitted to a university AND pass the NCAA Clearinghouse. I don't think you can pass the NCAA Clearinghouse until your transcript is complete-you can only tentatively guess until the end of the spring semester is over-especially on borderline kids. That wouldn't have changed a thing last year because both needed to retake the SAT/ACT AFTER signing date. We are talking borderline kids and so you just don't know on signing date. Only the Troy States admit kids that don't qualify according to the NCAA Clearinghouse-most head to JUCOs even though they signed(SMU has 12 examples in 2 years) or if they are really really close might take a SAT/ACT Prep course in the Fall and hope to get in at the next midterm.

Re: Jeff Reinebold WED.Well we already have a commit that has been accepted at a BCS school academically but has not been accepted academically yet at SMU. That's all I will say about the matter for now.

Re: Jeff Reinebold WED.accepted or offering the kid a Letter of Intent to sign on signing date? SMU signs a bunch every year who aren't accepted to the university or qualified. Most schools do hoping they will be late qualifiers-and if they don't qualify under the NCAA Clearinghouse before August they don't get in even if they were "accepted". They usually go to JUCO because the Letter of Intent is conditional on the kid meeting NCAA admission requirements. Neither Scout or Rivals has identified any such recruit.
