Re: 2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl ScheduleSMU needs better marketing within DFW. It's so damned frustrating to talk to people about SMU and they don't know what it is or where it's at. The PR people keep talking about branding SMU as the Dallas university, well that doesn't happen just by winning a few games and one bowl game. SMU is doing a hell of a job at appealing to bright students, but Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, etc, have appeal to both studious teenagers and people who have no interest in enrolling in classes at those institutions.
Re: 2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl ScheduleWhats frustrating to me is going into Albertsons and Academy and seeing
all that frog crap and not any S.M.U. stuff!!! ![]()
Re: 2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl Schedule
Or seeing even Houston apparel and no SMU! This was at some sports store at a mall in Grapevine.

Look Whose Going to the "Cotton Bowl". SMU v. Illinois It could be a good media story emphasizing our tradition. Back in the House Doak Built on New Years. Quite frankly whichever bowl we might go to will likely be embarrassing attendance wise especially the Liberty Bowl. Offers the greatest potential for local alumni to unite behind the program http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefootbal ... ?GT1=39002 "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: 2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl SchedulePlayoffs? PLAYOFFS?
think I just quoted someone..
Re: 2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl ScheduleHouston? I think all things being equal they would pick SMU over Houston.
Hoss Brock, Cotton Bowl Chairman, described U of H best when discussing the prospect of Houston in the 1984 Cotton Bowl by stating that "half of the U of H fans will eat at a 7-Eleven and the other half will rob one". The Ticket City Bowl needs to fill seats and SMU would fill more than UH in Dallas "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Before we accepted the Hawaii trip, I remember quite a few people on this board screaming and crying, that we would take between 5,000 to 10,000 to the Liberty Bowl.
Re: 2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl ScheduleSMU wouldn't send more than 3,000 maybe 4,000 actual fans to the Liberty Bowl

Re: 2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl ScheduleInteresting that only the PAC and Big 12 don't play against a CUSA team--must of not paying attention.
Re: 2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl ScheduleLiberty Bowl folks WANT SMU....
Re: 2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl ScheduleWe need to schedule someone at cotton bowl during state fair. Anyone with a tailgate spot gets 500 coupons.
Re: 2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl ScheduleGlad to see CUSA getting some bowl recognition for the improvement in competition over the past couple years. SMU at the Cotton Bowl seems like a stretch when they could pick U of H or ECU or someone who has a better conference history than the 'stangs.
Attendance-wise, if SMU gets the nod for the Ticket City Bowl, I don't see why people in Dallas wouldn't go watch the hometown team ya know? Great idea with the lowering of ticket prices though, could really boost interest in the program. ABC or Espn U? f'n ABC no doubt about it!
Re: 2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl ScheduleDid you not see the trouble we had selling out the AFB last year in our OWN stadium? Filling up even 50% of the Cotton Bowl between both teams will be nearly impossible even if we play a big name team.
Tech/Northwestern brought 40,000 fans last year to the 92,000 seat stadium. It would be a miracle if SMU brought more than 10,000-15,000 to that game even if we played a big name team from the Big 10.
2012 NCAA/CUSA Bowl ScheduleWe'd be lucky to have 5k in Memphis, especially when it's cold and miserable.
Cotton Bowl - 10-12k?
