No, Pope won't be in the mix. The mention I made last week came when he was messing around before one of the optional team conditioning workouts and, after jawing with teammates, hit three punts, two of which went 58 and 50 yards. Matt Stone, who punted six times last year in place of Matt Szymanski, will back, and I think Longoria will get a chance there, as well. Brian Farkas, who came over from the soccer team, was kicking field goals in the spring, as was defensive back Robert Mojica (saw him hit a 53-yarder with room to spare). Not sure if Coach Gansz has established a real depth chart at either spot, but based on the number of reps with the special teams in practice, it looked like Mike Loftus was working with the first team at both positions.

Loftus was highly regarded coming out of high school. Let's see what he (and the others) can do before trolling for a replacement, huh?

Mrs. Dubs laughs when I say this, but this is my number 1 major concern going into the season. The punting situation absolutely frightens me.

Like the Bennett years we couldn't even get a punt off?

While acknowledgeing speciall team problems during that time, including punts, the sad fact is one of our punters during that era set the school record for number of punts.

Everybody here is missing the point. Sada had the best hair on the team; quite possibly the best hair in collegiate football. You dont just REPLACE that in one season.

Bieber has terrible hair. There is no comparison between Sada and Bieber. Sada was a man amongst boys. Bieber is a quasi boy/girl.
