Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingThis might be the biggest move in the offseason. Like Mrydel said, you really don't appreciate DTs until they are missing. If your DTs are 6-2 or shorter, carry 280-320 and are strong to require double-teams, then you have something impactful. I think it really makes the front 7 look different. I think we all remember how important that front line looked in 2009 and how impressive it was. Now, two years later....hmmm.
I hope the experience both humbled and gave Pittman a sense of appreciation. Just keep working both on and off the field.
Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingAfter reading the article it sounds like Torlan is a DT where grades are not a concern! That is a relief!
Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingFrazier played at a higher level at the end of the season but I think there have been times he was pretty well spent and took some plays off. If nothing else you give Frazier some plays off.

Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingThis could be a game changer. Our defense just got better.

Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingEach of us need to walk through life with an eye on the straight and narrow. I and glad that this experience worked out for Mr. Pittman and that growth and grace are appreciated.

Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingNow the question is can we run and shoot?
Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingJust to add a wrinkle, is Frazier's move to DE more due to injury question marks out there or due to the return of TP?

Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingReturn of Pittman.
Plagiarize!
Let no one else's work evade your eyes. Remember why the good lord made your eyes. So don't shade your eyes, just Plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize! (Only be sure always to call it, please .... "research.")
Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingGet out of here Roach. This front seven is going to be one of the best in Conference USA. Pitt not only adds depth to our already veteren-heavy dline, but he gives us a playmaker who can really fill up some holes in the opposing offensive line. Look for him to be wanting to make an impact first game back, 4 or 5 tackles at the least. This defense just gets stronger and stronger the more I read about them. F'n Ponies...
Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingThings we know about Pittman: He is a big body that is incredibly strong.
Other than that we don't know much. The last year he played was in 2009, and he only played about half the games. He totaled 23 tackles in the 2 seasons he played. Glad to have him back, but we don't exactly know what we are getting back.
Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingNose in a 3-4 isnt supposed to have gaudy stats....
As long as he is in football shape and over 300, he will be a huge help...
Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecomingI know the nose isn't supposed to have gaudy stats. I'm fully aware of how a 3-4 works ty. Just saying we don't exactly know what we are getting so you can't exactly proclaim "game changer" just yet. Super excited to have him back because we can always use the big bodies inside.
Just an FYI, Marquis led the DL in tackles last year from the nose.
Re: TORLAN PITTMAN: Happy homecoming23 tackles for a freshman NG ain't bad. NGs don't make a lot of tackles-but I agree the lay-off could be a factor. I know he'll at least provide great depth-not so sure he immediately makes the starting rotation better than Frazier who played pretty well in the last few games. We'll definitely be able to rest guys this year across the Defensive Front which makes the team better.
