Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?If LeRibeus didn't sit last year, some considered him the best player on the team much less the best lineman. So of the OLs, you'd have to consider:
1) LeRibeus 2) Beach 3) Brooks (if he can play up to the level he played at in the Hawaii Bowl and at other times). I don't see any of the skill positions being a lock. DJ may have the ability, but he doesn't have the size and at least at this time his willingness to put in the extra effort is takes to get to the next level has been questioned. Maybe somebody snaps up Zach Line to be RB/FB hybrid. On the D line, Thompson would currently be the highest pick, but Margus has another year to play and learn. Frazier also has size, speed and ability. And then Pitman is back and is one of the strongest players on the roster. I think all those guys have a shot. If Ja'Gared Davis wants to go early in the draft bad enough, he might very well have the talent to do so. Looking in the long-range forecast, Chris Parks has NFL corner size (6'2") and speed (4.38). Let's see how he develops and lets see if he can keep his speed after adding 20 lbs. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?I like Frazier's talent and desire, but I question whether anyone will see past his knees.

Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?Just don't forget to add the JJ factor. Lost $20 to big John on the Sanders pick. NO way he was the first pick in the third round. Tallent plus JJ = + 1 or more take note recruits.
Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?Thompson, Frazier, and Hunt all have NFL ability, but as others have stated the production doesn't really justify taking any of them before the 5th round or so. Hopefully a big senior season for TT and Marquis gets them in the conversation. I'm really hoping that Ja'Gared sticks around for his senior season, but if he has a huge year I could see him making the jump. Taylor Reed, IMO, is a great college player, but I don't know that he has NFL level ability to play inside.
The one guy on the roster who will be really interesting to follow during draft time next year for me is Cole Beasley. Great production, four year starter, and the NFL loves to take WR's from June's offense. The small-ish slot receiver is en vogue right now in the league and I think Cole has a shot to make a roster if he can have an outstanding senior year and run well at the combine. What is probably going to hold him back is that he really isn't someone who can contribute on special teams. I disagree on DJ. I think he is a sure-fire NFL receiver if he commits to being great. Still, you have to be impressed that we have half a dozen to eight guys with a real shot at the NFL. When was the last time we could say that? Back off Warchild seriously.

Re: Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?
Even with JJ Beas has zero chance at a combine invite.
Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?Beachum: 6th rd
Thompson: 4th-5th rd LeReibus: 4th-5th rd
Re: Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?
I wouldn't say zero shot, there's always a chance. If Wes Welker and Danny Amendola can play in the NFL, so can Beas. It's definitely a possibility Dallas Mavericks - 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS!
Long live the Circle of Champions!
Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?Who HAS A SHOT at the NFL?
Kyle Padron Zach Line Kelvin Beachum, Jr. Josh LeRibeus J.T. Brooks Bryce Tennison Keenan Holman Cole Beasley Taylor Thompson Margus Hunt Marquis Frazier Ja'Gared Davis Taylor Reed Cameron Rogers Victor Jones Chris Banjo Chris Parks Kenneth Acker This list does not reflect who I think actually will get a shot, and it's crazy to try to predict in which round players will get selected, since we don't know how the upcoming season(s) will go, injuries, etc. Padron has to have a good junior year and a huge, HEALTHY senior season. Zach Line, I would think, would get a shot if he has a couple more big years, but might get relegated to special teams status in the NFL if he makes it. Bryce Tennison likely has to earn a starting spot this year, either at guard or center and has to show he can stay healthy. Hunt should stay for his senior season and show how productive he can be as a full-time starter on both defense and special teams. Here's who I think WILL get a shot, either as a draftee or undrafted free agent: Padron Line Beachum LeRibeus Brooks Holman Thompson Hunt Davis Reed Banjo Go PONIES!
Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?A big senior season could get Beasley a combine invitation. His size will be held against him, so it would be surprising to see him get drafted, but he is a physical freak — extremely quick and can jump out of the building. A team like the Colts or Redskins, each of which has a bunch of undersized receivers, might give him a chance. We'll see.
Go PONIES!
Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?Im sorry but Tennison has NO shot...the NFL usually doesnt go after borderline starters at C USA schools. Not to mention how many bonehead plays he made while he did start. Cameron Rogers is also a player with NO shot.
Beachum, Thompson, LeReibus, Line (special teams ace), and Hunt & JG have a very realisitic shot. Padron & Beasley an outside shot too
Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?Holman shouldn't be in there yet either. He played by default last year-let's see him do something first.

Re: Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?
I love me some Beasley but he's small TWSS...makes E Sanders look like a big target
Re: Current Roster: Who Has A Shot At The NFL?If Beas has equal or better numbers than he had last season he will get invited to a combine.
He is close if not in the 4.4's in the 40, with some work after the season he can run a 4.4 at a combine. Also if he does get the combine invite, his shuttle times and vertical will be freakish. He's for sure got a shot IMO. Just has to stay healthy and produce this season.
