I am glad we have this schedule with our experienced linemen instead of next year, when there will be a load of seniors to replace. And we will be fine this year (7-8 wins) if Padron is on!
How many wins if he's not on most of the time but say part of the time? Just curious.

Looking at the 2011 OOC schedule it is not that bad compared to the 2013 OOC schedule when we play TTech, aTm, Baylor and TCU.

Wow. You have become a real doom and gloomer. That 2013 schedule sets up for a BCS buster year if we stay on our recovery time line and if the BCS and conference situation is not topsy turvey by then. That is exactly where we need to be in order to be back with the big boys.

But even now the TCU and Baylor games are toss-ups, and in a couple of years they will be sure wins and the Tech games will be toss-ups.
I wouldn't worry about these schedules one bit.

I know you are relatively young, but we used to beat these big time teams more often than not for several years. Even back in my days (standard pay for play by all teams in the SWC, not the Pony Excess days) we could handle TAM and TCU was a freebie. Tech was tough in Lubbock but Baylor was owned by us. If we get back to where we should be the schedule would not look nearly as bad as you think.

You really think we're going to go 4-0 in OOC games vs AQ teams with a brand new QB? Every other BCS buster had a QB with at least 1 year of experience and didn't face any more than 2 AQ teams OOC.

So TCU is a toss up even now. We couldn't beat Army but a reloaded TCU team is a toss up. Well at least we have TCU egos. Can't wait for 2 years from now when TCU is a sure win.

Why will they be a for sure win? Are they going to stop trying?

No, but our upward trajectory will surpass them in a couple of years. They are on the way down and we are on the way up. Simple math.

So you are saying that since TCU had one loss 2 years ago and no losses last year that they are on a downward path. Also, Baylor went to their first bowl game in years last year and you are saying that they are on a downward path. Are you saying that we are out-recruiting them (which we don't seem to be doing)?

Oh, I'd love to see the logic behind that assertion.

I cannot believe we have so many people afraid to play real teams. I want to watch real football. I want my team to become competitive with real football teams. AND I want to win. We can keep drawing 9,000 people to watch some 2A high school play us close or we can build a team to compete with the big boys. I am for building a competitive team and drawing good crowds to watch us progress to what hopefully will be a step towards an AQ conference.
Time to quit blaming the DP. Time to quit moaning about the hand we have been dealt. Time to step up and play some real football. If you want wins against small time programs that will provide championships, Bo Levi has a team you can follow that does just that.

I agree but you also need a Louisiana- Monroe here and there like every big school does in non-conf

If we are not positioned to compete by 2013 we will be left behind. That is where the worry should be.
