Re: Screw It.... SMU 38 Aggy 27
I was there in '05, thinking it was going to be a great game after the TCU win. Thats why I am so negative about this game lol
Re: Screw It.... SMU 38 Aggy 27have no idea what to expect, it could go any which way. We are crafty though. We have a way of hanging around in games. UCF was a good physical team we faced in the Champ game last year on their home field after a big win to get there. We played like crap, yet we still made em sweat it a bit at the end. Part of me expects a Mustang team with some legit swagger. We played alot of football last year, conference champ game and bowl game (we were flat as a pancake for Army). These guys have some good experience now, stretching back to the Hawaii Bowl 20 months ago. I think Padron is ready. Big, tough, smart kid. It might be our time, but this is not a make or break game. We need to compete though. I'm not into moral victories, more like maintaining confidence. I just hope the Ags don't back out and actually play the return game at Ford next year.
Re: Screw It.... SMU 38 Aggy 27Two years ago we won 8 games when most of the posters on this board would have been thrilled to win 5. Last year we won our division of CUSA and had a chance to win the CUSA title game. This year we return a boatload of veteran players at key positions and a staff that has been in place for four years. If we go down to A&M and get our doors blown off by 40 plus I will be VERY disappointed. We are not paying Jones 2M plus a year to do the same thing Phil Bennett could do. Its time to nut the eff up. Lets go down there and act like we belong. More importantly, lets play like we belong. We are in year four of the process. Its time to see where we stack up against a top tier opponent on a huge national stage. If we don't win, I sure as hell expect us to compete and make A&M work for it. A 52-17 or 45-10 type of loss is unacceptable. We have the talent, coaching, and experience needed to go down there and have a shot to win.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Screw It.... SMU 38 Aggy 27If we give them 4 quarters of the way we played in the first half of the TCU game last year we have a legit shot.
If we come out with anything less it's going to be a long day. I don't expect to see 2005....we are much improved. This game will be decided by lass than 2 TDs.
Re: Screw It.... SMU 38 Aggy 2731-28 SMU. LOng pass to start the game...the corps will be squeezing realllllll hard with 2 min left
Re: Screw It.... SMU 38 Aggy 27
I'm right there with you. That 05 game was a sheer kick in the sack. The difference this year is that I don't feel that we are completely outmatched. I distinctly remember when we started playing Tech again how much smaller our guys were vs. BCS school players in every key matchup on the field. Yeah, we still give up some size to the bigger schools, but we're talking a few pounds and a little height, not 50 lbs and half a foot. The only area that really has me overly concerned is our secondary. They are still a little on the small side. The one evenly mathced guy there is Banjo, but he can't be everywhere. PLUS, we are playing in the evening so that should help our fatigue factor. And since it's been hotter than be-jeezus this summer, the team should be fairly used to hot weather, so our conditioning should be much improved. I'm not expecting a win, but I am expecting a competitive game. Play them 10 times, we probably lose 8, but I'm hoping this weekend is one of the 2.
Re: Screw It.... SMU 38 Aggy 27SMT- I agree. We had better be very competitive or this program has taken a step back. I have high hopes that we will win but wouldn't put any money on it. This is not a 'make or break' game but a win will sure start the season of right and build a lot of confidence in the players.
GO PONIES!!!
Screw It.... SMU 38 Aggy 27We are going to win.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I wish somebody would put that in a blog.

Here are the Aggie pics. Not one picked SMU. No contrarians there. My pic close game - high scoring game. First team to 40 wins. My guess its unfortunately going to be the Aggies. 42-35. ZL has 125 yards. KP has 300 yards passing. I fear we'll have a few picks. UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Screw It.... SMU 38 Aggy 27
No sorry, this is bad Karma-----C'mon, this ain't yesteryear's Ponies....if you haven't been to one of this years practices yet, let me tell you they are MUCH bigger, stronger and faster this year then we have EVER seen them on the Hilltop. I mean ever... This will be a dog fight through the first 3 quarters and maybe TAMU does win, but SMU has a REAL chance to shock the world here. It all depends on the connections between the WRS and Padron, and the effectiveness of the DB's for SMU. The O and D Lines are for real this year and will compete, and won't look small at all.
Re: Screw It.... SMU 38 Aggy 27Get your popcorn ready...its going to be competitive and worth watching...
