Thanks, PonyWhupp (cool screenname, by the way). Hearing that you run the ball ~40% of the time actually makes me feel better about our chances. It wasn't too long ago that I feared 3rd & 13 more than I feared 3rd & 3. We just always seem to do awful against those spread offense, pass-happy attacks.

I'm also encouraged to hear that your secondary is suspect. I think we can run the ball against anyone, and if the pass is there for us too, well, we might be able to pile up some points bigtime.

But who knows. Anyway, safe travels for those of you making the trip, and hope to see some of you at The Chicken - I'll be wearing the maroon shirt! ;)

We also moved one of our DTs to WR because he was big, fast and could jump. There is also a rumor that we are going to use two QBs in the backfield so you will have to guess which one is going to get the ball. :P :P

And I'll bet they are really going to be shocked and confused when Padron calls all of those new inaudible plays.

AgKJ wrote:Howdy, Mustangs. Just wanted to drop by and wish everyone a good game, injury-free, and specifically those of you who are making the trip to Aggieland. I hope that you enjoy good Aggie hospitality - we're a very hospitable bunch, so hopefully you'll stop by a tailgate or two and be given free beer and good college football discussion.

I confess I know pretty much nothing about your team - usually the A&M websites have done a solid job of breaking down our opponent by now, but as you probably know, the dominant topic right now is SEC, SEC, SEC.

What can you tell me about your team in terms of strengths, weaknesses, players to watch, etc?

I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have about either our team or College Station stuff for those making the trip.

Thanks, and here's to a good game!

any chance you made it to akita's bbq last weekend?

Junior - no, I didn't attend the big Akita BBQ thing. That whole deal was WEIRD, but classic TexAgs.

yeah, that kept me entertained for days. seemed like a lot of Aggies thought it was as strange as we did.

My wife's uncle is an Aggie class of 63, and have several friends who have attended A&M over the years. I've been down to a handful of games over the last few years, and while some may think the Aggies have crazy traditions, I honestly love the spirit of the fans and the support they give your team and the school. I have always found your fans hospitable. They even had kind words to say about our team after you guys beat the crap out of us the last time we were there in 2005. If the Mustangs weren't playing you guys, I'd be throwing my support your way, so good luck in your next 11+ games after this weekend!

PonyWhupp gave a pretty accurate assessment. I would add that we have a solid receiving corps, but our best receiver moved on to the NFL, so we need someone to step up and be the "go to guy". It's probably 1 of 3 guys that can do it, so we'll see if that happens.

This is probably the best total team on paper that we've had in a very long time, but it still requires them to pull together and play up to their potential, so we are cautiously optimistic.

If we pull this thing off, I don't think they will be very hospitable :D

no question about it.

but they'll stll be better than tech fans in a winning effort.

have to agree with the Aggie that they are the worst.

The thing about a Jones offense is the he can run it 70% or 0%. That's the beauty of it. If you start biting on the pass, Line comes right through for 10-20 yards. If you try to stop the run, lanes open up all over the place for passing. Our concern is that our QB now has enough of a grasp of the offense to really put a hurt on some people. Our defense is not bad, but thin. If there are injuries, it could hurt us. Also remember, Jones does not have contact practices before the season starts, so, these guys will be getting their first licks. But my guess is that you'll kill us, no reason to worry. And by the way, SMU would be a great travel partner with the AGs in the SEC!!!

looking at the aggie board, they firmly believe that our defense is horrible and will not be able to stop the aggie juggernaut, as evidenced solely by the aggies noting that we lost our bowl game. also, they tend to downplay our o-line being able to stop their pass rush.

they pretty much want nothing to do with any arguments that are contrary.

i guess we'll have to wait to see on sunday.
