Me too. And as far as switching him to RB we already have freshman Jared Williams backing up Line. Also, freshman Nlemchi was supposed to be the power back I thought. Who's spot does he take? Is Nlemchi not doing well or something?

Nlemchi has been working his way back from a hip flexor injury. He said this morning that if he had to play today he could, although it would be sore. It's not like Coach Jones has named Wimbley as Line's replacement or anything. He's trying it out, because he sees potential there. Williams and Nlemchi and Lunday and Dugal are still there.

So looks like he may not see the field either way but at least he has a chance at trying a new position. Sounds reasonable.

nice! A true goaline package! We'll need it against the aggy Defense. Ask OU..
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

Wow...he bench pressed 450 pounds as a 17 year old in HS.....and is a world class squatter for his age...he will kill it as a RB. JJ knows. Very interesting indeed.

I don't like this. It's fine for a goal line package, but we need him as a DT

I agree. DT isn't exactly our strength, especially since we moved Frazier back to DE.

Note that JJ had a special package at Hawaii where he used Mauia as a slotback/TE when a team had a premier DE. The Cowboys' Anthony Spencer was at Purdue and leading the NCAA in sacks if I recall when JJ put Mauia at the "slot" position and gave him one task: crush Spencer on every play. Spencer was *not* a factor the entire game thanks to that package, even when a regular slot receiver played later in the game.
Hawaii's regular RB (Ilaoa) was used at RB when Mauia was a "slot". If certain SMU opponents have a premier DE and one of the tackles needs a little help, I wouldn't be shocked if Wimbley became a "slot" to max protect. JJ's already used a TE at SMU in a regular package, this would be another variation of a 3WR set.

I know JJ does not believe in a 2 back system but the potential to open up holes for Zack would be great. Hopefully they will use this on the goalline offense.

We are stacked at DT, so this makes sense...

I don't know how much sense this makes I mean an athletic true freshmen that weighs 300 pounds sounds like a good nose guard prospect to me, Who cares if he sees the field this year? we are building depth Redshirt him and teach him to be a great colliegate DT. You can never have enough depth at DT.

That's exactly who I thought of, especially with Wimbley trading in his No. 95 defensive jersey for No. 45 (Heyward's old number).

I like the RS idea for him, but if we need that tough yard or two in our goal line offense...JJ knows that is one of the shortcomings of the R&S as we saw more of Padron under center near the goal line last year.
