bing bing bing we have a winner. That is the VERY reason they should pick us - and if I was SO and/or Turner i would be activly courting the ACC - they need to expand their footprint also - and we would be a perfect fit for their confernce in many ways. They get aggressive or they will get picked off also - they need to add Pitt and SMU and add a TON of new eyeballs to their market.

So when 'the football rapture' arrives we will have the SEC+x, the PAC+xx, the big 10+x, and the rest will be scrambling to create one or two more mega conferences. The ACC, BE, b12-3, MWC, CUSA et al. with be in a dog fight for the scraps left by the 'super majors'. IMO we need to try and guess-timate who will be the winners and work on trying to get their attention as well as entry into that conference. This is like a once in a lifetime opportunity- win and your in- lose and you face obscurity. I hope GT and SO are covering all of their bases.

Unless FSU and Miami bolt from the ACC, I would put my money on them.

If we get to the point of 4 super conferences, we will be looking at SEC, PAC, Midwest (Big 10) and a combined ACC/Big East

ABE- and what odds are you giving? The U just might die a very ungraceful death which would have a major effect on the ACC.

The ACC will expand their footprint - into NY. Syracuse was who they were going to take before VT got politicos into the game. Rutgers was one of the schools asked to join the original Ivy League, and has pulled it together in the football department. UConn fits nicely into that geographic department, and brings a stellar BBall resume to the table. They have no need to go to Texas, they have the Northeast (the actual good part) to draw from.

All being said this is a great dress rehearsal for the big dance and the free publicity is a Thad-send as it were.

Does anyone believe this media attention would have ever occurred without the serendipity of events (JJ, winning, NCAA teams whacked like flies, scandal,...) and the release of "PONY EXCE$$"?

Let's be grateful for all the discussion and just keep winning!

Absolutely agree.

The proactive thing to do is start talking to the PAC - 12 and/or tell the leftovers from the Big XII to join CUSA for a 24 team three divsion super conference.

The creation of four mega conferernces should of real concern for us. When you cap the BCS at 64 members, the teams on the outside are screaming to be included somehow. Our chances go up with five or six conferences (whether 16, 14 or 12 schools each). Also, SW needs a conference and, hopefully, UT and OK agree. If Big 12 evaporates by dividing its membership between PAC 12, SEC and Big10, we could isolated from the musical chairs being played out.

In the next three weeks, OK will determine it's future and UT will react. My hope is the two of them show leadership and stabilize before the coming chaos. Firmly commit to a long term in Big 12 and invite at least three schools, BYU, AFA and SMU/Houston. If conferences get to 14, you can pick up Tulsa and another. Given the instability of the Big 12 and the comfort of their current situations, ND and Arkansas really can not be considered as legitimate options.

Chaos and four mega conferences will not benefit SMU.
