At least if and when Padron gets in he will not have to worry about whether or not he will lose his starter spot if he makes a mistake. Maybe he will realize he needs to trust his initial read and get rid of the ball quickly. He has nothing to lose and this could be very good for him. In the mean time I have no problem with JJMc.

Look for a ton of SMU scoring then if JJ is our man.

Panic, no. Headgames, absolutely, and they need to be played to a certain point. Kyle came into the season the assumed leader and starter and choked on a big-time stage. He needs to know that at this point in his career that a) those mistakes are no longer tolerable and b) Kyle needs to learn how to handle a little humility and adversity. I think McDermott will have a good series or two, then stall (just like he did Saturday), and Kyle will come in and find his groove again. Several people have noted that coach Jones knows which buttons to push, and this one should light a fire under Padron, at which point he will either take off or burn out. If the latter happens, at least we have a suitable replacement.
Yeah, he's gonna take off alright, right to another school. We've seen this act before...Chris Sanders/Josh McCown/Bo Levi Mitchell...which by the way, anyone see BLM's numbers for E Washington over the weekend? All these guys left SMU and promptly lit it up for their new schools. It's a vicious cycle.

KP seems to have trouble with going through his progressions (as many have noted). I think that some time on the sidelines will be helpful for him. It would not surprise me to see him starting again by the TCU game if he is the competitor I think he can be.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. JJ seemed to 'get' the offense better than Padron had during the last half of the '10 season.
I look forward to seeing what JJ can do out of the gate when we aren't down 2 TDs.
I also trust June that he is doing the right thing. If I can't trust June on QB decision making, then what can I trust him on???

I suspect that playing QB in the R&S is a lot different than in other offenses. It requires the QB to think, assimulate and react very quickly. The WRs also have to do their job with correct reads and moves. When those things are in sync then the R&S is very potent and when they aren't it is problematic (as we have seen).

You clearly have suppressed far too many memories and are way to hung up on this QB stuff. BLM can throw it, there is no question, but while he was at SMU he single handedly gift wrapped more sure wins than any QB I have ever seen. Even if we won, he made sure he would make it as difficult as possible.

Yeah, KP has turnover/nerve issues right now, so put JJ in for now. This thing will play itself out for the best.

I will never forget watching BLM throw a screen pass (that, if completed may have gone 60 yards for a TD) directly to a TCU lineman (the only player around) who took in in for 6. It was the single worst throw I have ever seen in a football game. You're smoking crack.

Padron wouldn't have any eligibility at a D-1 school. Could play a year at FCS

BLM's barrage of picks at Washington State a few years back is a close second. Nothing compares to that in my opinion. Maybe seeing it live made it worse...

JJ McDermott has worked hard and waiting patiently for his turn without complaining. I wish him the best.

That pick to the TCU lb was the worst I have ever seen. Literally was not an SMU player anywhere, and he looked staight at him and threw it right to his chest . Wasn't it a pick 6? That was it for me

Yes, that is the throw I am talking about, it was a screen that was run perfectly and would have worked perfectly and he just threw it to this DE/LB standing right in front of him like it was intended for him. The RB (Martin?) was about 7-10 yards behind the DE/LB also, just waiting for a simple lob. Literally, anybody could have made that throw, it was the most ridiculous/head scratching thing I have ever seen.

KP may have turn over issues right now, but just remember what we used to see.
