You can talk about Oregon State or WSU academics etc, but try getting your kids into UCLA, USC, Washington, Stanford or California....they are tough schools and those institutions don't want any dumbing down of the conference. ASU and Arizona were a natural location-wise, but it took many years before they were accepted. ANYone can get into TT or OSU, so don't compare those records. Besides why in the world add a potential trip to Lubbock, TX and/or Stillwater, Oklahoma from the beautiful west coast?
If the other conferences go to 16 teams, then its in play, but I don't see them jumping out first, unless UT leads the charge and revamps their TV Network to some kind of sharing deal.

:D :D :D

The Pac 8 had a real debate even allowing the Arizona U's to join and many of us wish they hadn't; we want them to leave and take Colorado and Utah with them.

WSU and Oregon State are permanent fixtures.

As I have continually said the Big 12 -2 (eh 3 ?) is not going anywhere

The real question, besides the attitude of existing members is the money distributed per school. Will the total contract increase that can be negotiated for adding four more schools actually cover the four new schools and significantly increase the distribution for all members? Given time slots available and the number of college games now available it may not make financial sense to add more schools--on the margin it may not be that rewarding to the TV network to increase the payment for a 12 vs 16 team conference. Texas maybe a big market, but to make it work, the incremental pay increase to the Pac 12, would not just have to cover the distribution to four new schools, but provide an incremental increase to all 16. I wish we had a TV sports executive available to explain the economics behind these mega-contracts.
