I imagine he thought it a little tough to put a fragile minded QB in under those circumstances. That is all I can imagine. Padron was fired up running on the field. Next thing I knew, JJM was in.
And then JJ Mc missed on 2 open deep balls that looked like they could have gone for 97 yds

You do realize don't you that JJones is entering his 4th season as HC of SMU. Forget about simply playing Conner Preston, if he were to START Conner Preston, it would be the 3rd time in his four years here that he started a true Freshman QB. So given JJ's past, as crazy as it might seem to a lot of people, myself included, it is not unimaginable to think Conner would see playing time this year. To me, a big criticism so far of the JJ regime. 4 years and nothing to show for this position.
I like Jones but ridiculous not to sign multiple qb's each year until you have some depth considering wenrun an offense that's only as good as the qb play

Look I think KP has the talent to be really good and he has flashed it several times over his time hear at SMU, I don't understand how the coach forgets all taht when you have a bad start to a game at Kylefield against the number 8 team in the country.

I'm no expert, but I can see that the offense under Padron didn't look like Hawaii, and at times looked horrible. See the Army game. See our point totals all last year. Padron made things happen, but perhaps he wasn't running the offense? Could it be that Padron is the reason we aren't seeing a quality offense?

I agree. Padron's 2 plays made all the difference in the game last night.

SMU fan: "Aren't you a little short to be a qb?"
CP: "Huh? Oh, the uniform. I'm Conner Preston. I'm here to rescue you."
SMU fan: "You're who?"

He did look small out there, but maybe he is like a certain QB in New Orleans: Drew Brees, that is really small for a NFL QB too. Conner played QB at a very high level in California and is a proven HS product, so lets give him slack on the size until he gets a chance to prove himself.

I believe that JJ said he had a package of plays for KP but the situation was not right- apparently for that package of plays. Some of the long passes made by jjmd were okay- the WRs just didn't hold on to them or get to them. JJ mentioned in his interview that part of the problem is the position of the lights at Ford. He said they are not placed right for a passing team and that there is a plan to reposition them.

??? Way good point.... brother? You bring in QB's that have played at a high level under pressure that are proven HS products to play in D-1 Football. Tha's what Conner did in California. Your chances for success are much higher than the otherwise. He's not going to grow in height much, if at all.

I don't expect to see Preston on the field unless one of our other guys goes down with a season ending injury. Now, if we lose 5 of our next 6 games....all bets are off

I hope that's not what this thread is about. They won't burn his scoly this year....he will not play unless everyone got hurt.

Does it look like Hawaii now? Maybe the offensive scheme stinks, or the play-caller.
