It works both ways....the crowd can excite the players but the players still need to excite the crowd and their was little to get excited about last night. The offense didn't hit on all cylinders and make many big plays and the defense wasn't making plays on 3rd downs when needed in the first half. When we all see exciting plays from our home team, we will react accordingly and also tends to make us stay excited and louder. I lost my energy in the 4th quarter and was bored as well.
The SMU students were awesome and was the best and biggest I have seen them since the TCU game last year. Kudo's to the SMU students!!! They ALL wore white and most actually stayed for the second half.

The good news is that we have a 'family friendly' crowd. I wouldn't have a problem bringing a small child to the game.

Bad news is it's because there is too little rowdiness. We need a couple of people to actually show some enthusiasm!

My section was unusually quiet last night, even when we scored. I was really surprised.

Red And Blue Army is looking to start splinter cell groups across the entire home-side...there are people all around you feeling guilty for not being active fans but not bold enough to be the only one cheering in their group. Belonging to a group like RBA is empowering and you can help spread that message and encourage active fandom by joining RBA and doning a scarf.

here's part of the problem-nobody really gives a [deleted] about UTEP, UAB, Memphis, Marshall, Northwestern St., Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston St etc. Just telling it like it is.

I also noticed that it was much more full, with a significant number of students staying for the whole game over previous years. They also let fans down on the field after the game. A lot of players hung around and were signing autographs and posing for pictures.

I thought the young ladies looked very virginal in their white sun dresses!

Maybe so, but does that mean folks will only show up if SMU is playing a Top 25 team every week? If that's the case, are they there to see SMU or the opponent? I thought the point of going to the game was to support SMU, not to see the opposition.

I was over in section 106 last enjoying the new season tickets from moving from the end zone. We had a good group in the couple of rows I was in, but definitely issues with the blue hair crowd. My son tried to get on the jumbotron and tried to squeeze in close to one blue hair and I thought she was going to go off him. The other issue we had was when we were on 3rd down for defense I would beat on the bleachers in front of me and had some blue hairs stare down my wife to the point she asked me to stop. Hoping we can get these folks to move, but unfortunately that is what we have to deal with.

The better the team does the more fans we attract and the better the experience.

Examples:(1) "the kick is complete"; and after a first and ten play he announced "gain of four. Second down and 9." But at least he is not encouraging the crowd to make noise when SMU has the ball and is trying to convert a third down like last year.

And all energy left the stadium after the UTEP player was injured. I'm not sure if it was concern for his health, the lethargic play of the team, or the elevator music played during the injury. Personally I believe it was the elevator music. That was a beating.

Ha I had called it weather channel music, but elevator works too

I have never seen music played while an injured player is down. I thought that was kind of classless. That and having the play by play on the PA is another example of our stellar game ops folks.

I emailed the PA guy (Robert Kobb) some music ideas. Muse made it. House of Pain. White Stripes. Can't take credit for the elevator music during the injury time-out though...that was...odd but I guess he wanted something neutral. Nice guy, really receptive. What did you guys think about the new tunes?
