If Big 12 truly wants to be bold they will try to get to 16 BEFORE the rest of the conferences get to 16. The push to get to 16 is inevitable. Adding our 4-5 teams after OU/OSU/TX/TX Tech leave will do nothing to secure the future of the conference. Hell getting to 16 doesn't gaurantee anything either. But a 16 team Big 12 could look like this:

Big 12 Mountain Pod:

BYU, Air Force, Boise State, Nevada

Big 12 Southwest Pod:

Baylor, TCU, SMU, Houston

Big 12 Midwest Pod:

Kansas State, Iowa State, Louisville, Cincinnati

Big 12 East Pod:

Southern Miss, East Carolina, Central Florida, South Florida

There is enough panic.....everyone's head is on a swivel.....I don't see how 16 isn't the number

Too much dead weight at the bottom of the MWC. TCU will look to the Big 12 leftovers if indeed the Big East is decimated.

Remember this is all about earning AQ status for the BCS. The most attractive additions are TCU and Boise, both of which have BCS appearances in the 3 year evaluation period

So, the new "Big XII" might look like this:

West: Boise, Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, TCU, Iowa State

East: Louisville, Cincy, W. Virginia, USF, UConn, Rutgers

This assumes Missou to SEC

If ACC comes back for UConn and Rutgers...I think ECU and UCF have an opening

I still think SMU and Houston are way down on the list and the CUSA/MWC merger gains momentum. Question is...how many teams and what does it end up looking like?
