Re: ND to ACC?They also get to schedule , VT, GT, Clemson, FSU, Miami, BC (a long time rival), Pitt, Syracuse, MD. I'm sure the ACC would offer them whatever divisional alignment they wanted if their joining keeps FSU in the fold. Sure UVa, Duke, Wake, NC State are not their cup of tea, but the others are schools that are competitive with them and in areas where they traditionally actively recruit. For hoops, they recruit heavily in DC. If they have to join a conference, then the ACC is preferable to them because MD and UVa still give them entre into the DC market. The Big Ten does not. Now the Big East Catholic League would still be preferable to them. Philly, DC, NY, Chicago, Boston and Milwaukee. (add in Xavier and you're set).

Re: ND to ACC?ACC would be easier to win in football. That is why I could see them wanting to going there.

Re: ND to ACC?If this is true, and I highly doubt it, I don't think this has to do with whether or not they can win a conference title easier or recruit a specific area. I believe the ACC has an unbalanced payout in their conference. And the reason why UT was/is looking in that direction is because the ACC would likely be the most accommodating towards the LHN. So they would also probably be the most accommodating towards ND's NBC contract and ND could probably make the most money in that conference and not have to share as much. Plus I'm guessing they want to stick the middle finger to the B10 a little because the B10 is always telling them they need to come over to the dark side and join them.
Not happening though.
Re: ND to ACC?
"Asked about Texas during Sunday's announcement of ACC expansion, Swofford declined comment and later called the ACC's equal revenue-sharing model 'sacred,' a stance that could make it difficult for the league to add Texas and its 20-year, $300 million agreement with ESPN for the Longhorn Network to its inventory of schools." http://www.star-telegram.com/2011/09/19/3377497/texas-texas-tech-look-at-pac-16.html
Re: ND to ACC?Except that if they don't give UT and ND more liberal terms, they risk losing two good football programs to the SEC. FSU has made it clear that if the SEC comes calling they're leaving unless the ACC beefs up its football. Pitt and Syracuse don't do that. UConn and Rutgers don't do that. ND and UT do that.
