yeah let the East have:

West Virginia
USF
Louisville
Cinncinatti
UCF
East Carolina
Southern Miss
Memphis
etc

Then the West keeps

Iowa St
Kansas
K-State
Missouri?
TCU
SMU
Baylor
Houston
etc

another thing is merging now plays right into the BCS's hands. Thats what they want the Big East and Big 12 to do. Might be more strategic to stay separate and wait for the BCS to try to rescind their AQ statuses and then scream bloody murder and threaten a collective antitrust lawsuit.

I agree on the antitrust suit as a class action deal....interesting but I guess not real surprising that WV couldn't get into another Conference....bunch of hillbillies. A setback for them and life for BE after all.

Part of this may be Bob Huggins. He is not particularly well liked by other coaches, his kids don't graduate and he pushes the envelope on recruiting rules. Didn't WVU also threaten to sue over Rich Rod to Michigan? Add in their sub-zero academics, their rude fans, and the lack of market and there you go. With the ACC, Pitt wouldn't want them and I suspect that was one of their conditions for joining. They would rather see WVU wither and die.

Please understand that by state law WV must accept any in-state applicant. This is reflective of the poor high school system in the state and the idea/philosophy that kids must be given one chance to attend college; however, they flunk out 45% of all frosh by the end of the first year at which time they become very academically competitive. They are unlike many state universities that trash their own in-state students to get out of state tuitions to off set costs and raise the initial academic standings. WV has excellent undergraduate programs as well as graduate programs; however, one must understand the philosophy of their admissions policies and state law before making outrageous statements.

I recall a comment from Mike Slive that the SEC could go to 16 teams "in 15 minutes" if they wanted to. Funny how things change. Looks like UT/TT/OU/OSU will be off the table. The ACC schools appear suprisingly determined to stick together, and the SEC has several schools who will not permit another school in their state to join. So right now even getting to 14 without adding garbage looks like a stretch for the SEC. I really don't think Mizzou would be their ideal candidate. But there doesn't seem to be a better option out there right now, so Mizzou becomes the front-runner by default. After Mizzou, assuming the ACC sticks together, where does the SEC go for 15 and 16. No real good options.

Looks like it might take a little longer than 15 minutes.
