There is no absolute reason either the SEC or Big 10 has to expand to 16 right now. I think PAC and ACC go to 16-not sure about the others yet.

The only thing I can think of is that the Big 10 knows they can't get ND and now with Mizzou off the table, Kansas becomes the best choice available for expansion and KU is politically tied to KSU. Otherwise I just don't see that being a "win" for the Big 10.
