Is KP down for the year?Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Is KP down for the year?Agreed... and when I said he is done I meant for this year. He will of course get a chance to compete for it again next year.

Re: Is KP down for the year?Well SMU's Senior-laden High Flying Circus is No. 49 in Total Offense right now after playing Patsy and Dorothy with Judy coming up to this Week so has there really been much improvement offensively other than weak teams.

Re: Is KP down for the year?I want KP to rebound and I'm sure June wants him to rebound, but right now he kinda looks like his head isn't fully in it. At least we actually have options at QB!

Re: Is KP down for the year?
if june jones believed in kyle he would still be playing multiple downs. those two interceptions weren't his demise. We saw him throw interceptions in important situations all of last year. Yes, his TD to INT ratio was 2:1, but when the interceptions you do throw are in game clinching scenarios...you have a problem. I have watched enough football to know that. And there is no reason to come in here and call people morons... Don't push people away when they take interest in our team... back to my point. JJ recognized kyle's inability to handle pressure last year. I'm sure he still struggled with this in practice and his two interceptions in game 1 didn't help him convince jones he was ready. neither one of those throws were a good idea. the first was underthrown and forced into tight coverage allowing it to be tipped. the second sailed, when he could have easily trotted three yds to gain the 1st. everyone makes mistakes but he has made enough that he has lost his starting position. June still uses him in key situations ie 3rd down options etc....until he proves he can consistently convert in those situations, we will not see much of him. Re: Is KP down for the year?I know I am new to the board, but it seems that this Stallion gentlemen is the end all-be all of Football knowledge. I actually played for SMU in college, and I am curious if he did at. Having an individual who claims to know all and can hand out his opinion as the complete truth without any other suggestion, i hope only played college football or coached it because he is the smartest person on here.
Re: Is KP down for the year?Nobody has offered a decent explanation as to why Padron seemed to go downhill the second half of last year. At first I thought it was merely preception, but his quick benching shows that it isn't the case.
Everyone seems to agree that McD "runs the offense" better than Padron, but it isn't like the offense has been awesome with McD out there running it. Could the downhill slide last year be indicative of Padron's natural tendancies to "make things happen" were fully mapped out and planned for by the other teams? Who knows. Surely there are coach-types on this board able to break down the situation, yet nobody has. "I think Couchem is right."

Re: Is KP down for the year?SMU is 88th in the Country out of 120 teams in Passing Efficiency. Improvement?

Re: Is KP down for the year?
And Padron was -21 vs aTm and 103 vs NWSt Now who is the dumb-zz? Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: Is KP down for the year?KP has had one good games, which set the expectations bar WAY too high. That was the worst pass D in the nation without two starters.
For what it's worth (which is probably not a lot), I feel that KP has not fully picked up the offense. He still stares down receivers, and gets "happy feet" in the pocket. I really want to see him succeed because I think he is a great person, and it will help next year, but I am not sold at all. I have been saying it for 2 years now, but I really want to see the RnS run on all cylinders. Here's to hoping JJ, JJ, KP, and co. do that against a terrible opponent. Re: Is KP down for the year?
calling a stupid comment a stupid comment is not rude. i thought it was pretty ridiculous as well. KP is not done. what has JJMcD done to show that his is that much better than KP? please temper anything you have to say about JJ's performance at A&M with the stellar performance in the 2nd half of the UTEP game where the O produced a whopping zero points. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Is KP down for the year?i think the decision has been made that jj is the starter.
hal mumme who coached him at nmsu said that he would play in the nfl. he highly reccomended him to june. he is a quality player. we are lucky to have him.
Re: Is KP down for the year?
I don't think Padron's done, but those thinking he is aren't basing it on "2 passes against the No. 8 team in the country." There's also 17-7 against UCF and 16-14 against Army. ![]()
