Craig James on big 12 expansionLast time I checked cj worked for espn and was well liked, also last time I checked espn is giving thumbs up or down to every proposal. Every friend we have there the better for us...
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansion
the anti-CJ crowd is generally referencing the Mike Leach saga more than the DP
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansionWest Virginia as an entire state has about 25% of the "TV Sets" that the Metroplex has...I really don't get it either. Not trying to pimp us our say SMU/TCU totally delivers the Dallas market (hah!) but seriously, West Virginia is over 1,000 miles away, less than 2 million total pop, a dreadful academic institution, and is a very, very regional school.
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansionthe more talking heads we can get talking SMU, the better
I want to see people [deleted] about a talking head and ESPN and SMU they way people [deleted] about Dickie V, ESPN, and Duke
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansioni know im kinda new to these fourms can some one tell me why ppl dont like craig james I still dont get it
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansionLong story, but until JJ was hired he never came bck and joked about SMU as much as he could on the air....
I am an ultimate hater, but lately he is redeeming himself...
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansion
A lot of alums joked about smu until jj came in.. What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansionThats all any one could do was joke about man we were bad .I got crap from every one because i like SMU even girlfreinds laughed at me.I for one am glad CJ is talking us up

Re: Craig James on big 12 expansionCraig James (and Dickerson and sometime Lance McIllhenny) had the balls to stand up and criticize the SMU administration's lack of commitment to a strong athletic program while many Cheerleaders snuggled up to Pye, Turner, Copeland and successive victim Coaches who were unwilling to state what everyone KNEW-SMU had no chance of winning because they were on an uneven playing field. Many on this board who are dancing around like girls about June Jones were backstabbing James and Dickerson for advocating the exact changes in admissions and curiculum which are now all firmly established. Then you have the genuises that complain that Craig James doesn't come back for Football Games despite the fact he has a gig on GameDay.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansionDid you use a wet nap to clean CJ off when you were done?
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansionGood point. Craig James, while speaking at a Fellowship of Christian Athelete's luncheon in Fort Worth, lauded SMU's resurgence and said that SMU, TCU, UT, etc should be in the same conference. He said that regional rivalries are special and are a big reason why college football is so prominent today. He also said that the Tech fiasco was one of the most difficult times in his life.
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansionThought CJ was at the TAMU game. Regardless, he is a great advocate for SMU with a national stage. Only Texans have a grudge against him, and it is a result of the Mike Leach firing, which blows my mind. Who wouldn't stick up for their son after he was locked inside of a shed? If its a result of the DP, I don't understand that either because ED doesn't get the same wrath.
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansioncraig played right into the hands of hance at tt.
they used craig to get leach fired. i've read leach's book. for the most part it is self congratulatory but he makes it clear that hance wanted him out and used craig to do it.
Re: Craig James on big 12 expansion
I have to agree here...having spent lots of time in WVA hiking and doing other outdoors stuff i have to say that WVA is one of the most backward and behind-the-times places I have ever been in this country. "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
