Well, it is our Super Bowl, so it would be a big win.

Our Best Shot At A Defining Win

Any win over a top 25 team is big

Houston might enter top 25 at 5-0 even with a scrub schedule

I agree it's an important game, but you're giving them WAY too much credit to say it would be a defining win.

That was a jab at Patterson - last year he said we played them close because the TCU is our super bowl and for them it is just another game.

It would be nice to see a JJ coached team at SMU beat a perennial top 25 program given that JJ's teams are 4-10 against non-conference teams with three of those wins against 1-AA/FCS programs. A win over TCU won't "define" anything....just as the win over them in 2005 didn't either as the program continued to have losing seasons and be amongst the worst in the NCAA. It will take multiple years of 10+ win seasons for our program to gain any kind of respect as well as winning some games against top 25 teams......much as our biggest rival has done for the last 10 years.

Keep the jabs going. Based on the talk around FW, it seems more like SMU is TCU's Super Bowl. More than half the people I work with are Froggies, and to hear them tell it, you would think the Green Bay Packers are coming to town today. They're talking about Patterson like he can't coach, and with Dalton, etc., gone, they make it sound like they're just hoping for a chance.

What's really hacking them off is that when they talk to me about the game, my standard line is something like, "yeah, I hope we beat your stupid little team, but the UCF game two weeks later is far more important."

Makes for some angry little Froggies.

Yeah, heard Greggo on the FAN predict an SMU win. Unheard of. Of course it worries me that they are worried.

Yet although that win was fully six years ago and there's not a player on either team who remembers it, it still gets mentioned here pretty regularly. It's trotted out and petted and cherished like a favorite family heirloom. The win was certainly not defining for the SMU program, but it seems to be for a lot of SMU fans.
