Tulane to Big 12 is the most ridiculous piece of speculation to come out of this whole rumor mill crazy situation.

THE BIG XII NEEDS MARKETS. Haven't you learned money talks? The primary reason NU left is because the BIG 10 offered them TEN MILLION MORE A YEAR than the Big XII, and that was based mainly on TV contracts. Forget UT's arrogance - they would have smiled and dealt with it if they were offered that same difference by the Big XII.
If Mizzou leaves they are going to have their TV contracts GUTTED - it's already going to be bad. There is a reason Tulane and other insignificants are getting a look.

Would you take San Jose State for the Bay Area market? Rice for the Houston market?

Asymmetrical warfare or something: A&M stole LSU's huge recruiting tool in Houston/Southeast Texas which was: "hey kid, want to stay close to home and play in the SEC? You can only do that at LSU". (LSU is pissed by the way at A&M's joining, they protested) Now A&M has a huge recruiting advantage over UT because a kid can now stay in Texas and play in the premier college football conference. Texas/Big12 fight back in a creative way: rather than invite muscle, they invite a thorn, just not a thorn for them. They invite a school that is located in one of the most fertile locations in all of America for football talent: New Orleans. LSU's #1 team this year is mostly made up of New Orleans kids. As a result, LSU and A&M talent is depleted by Tulane now having a Big 12 title to recruit with. Even if it's a couple players here and couple there snatched by Tulane (aka Matt Forte), LSU and A&M become Mississippi State/Ole Miss. SEC is diluted a little, UT recruiting in Texas remains unaffected, Tulane is an easy win for Big 12 schools, Big 12 teams become known to Louisiana recruits, UT , Okla go undefeated and play for BCS CHAMP on a regular basis. Big 12 wins in this deal, UT wins in this deal. Like it.

SEC fights back and takes SMU open up DFW to SEC the #1 most fertile recruiting area in the nation. BOOM SMU gets all of UT's recruits goes undefeated in SEC and wins national title. SMU wins in this deal. Like it.

Makes a lot of sense. New Orleans has almost 300,000 people now, and Tulane dominates the local coverage, after the Dedicated news covers LSU football.

Smu 5th in Dallas gets more

B12 would get better recruiting exposure by getting LaTech.

Depends on how it would affect the TV contract - and THAT is the question UT and OU are asking right now. They aren't going to bring in a cupcake they have to carry in-conference when they can just pay one for out of conference games and be done with. Tulane would have to bring something to the table.

To be sure, I'm not saying they are going - I'm telling you what the Big XII is researching right now.

If Tulane is kicking the tires on AQ, they shoulda spent the last decade at least attempting to pretend to build a successful athletic program. They aren't going anywhere.

Tulane playing Texas? Pretty sure that would get coverage on the local New Orleans stations. Tulane playing Oklahoma? Pretty sure that would get coverage on the local New Orleans station. 300,000 population? I guess the million five that came out into the streets for the Super Bowl parade were mannequins. Yes Orleans Parish has 450,000. However, the greater New Orleans area includes: Orleans Parish, Jefferson Parish, Plaquemines Parish, St. Bernard Parish, St. John's Parish, St. Charles Parish .....all in a 40 mile radius. Louisiana Tech is in North Louisiana...... Good call

How much pub does Rice get playing Texas in Houston? There's a pretty good barometer to start. How about LSU playing Tulane? Didn't LSU threaten to pull the plug on the series because they get, literally, no benefit from it?

If Tulane, why not Memphis, or UTEP, or like someone else already said, SDSU?
