I think if anything they are underated. They've trounced every team they have played in the Box Score if not the Scoreboard. They've barely allowed a decent TD drive all season. I think they've alowed 1 for 48 yards, one 28 yards and 1 for 8 yards-I think that's it. No 2 in Total Defense, No 1 in Pass Defense, No. 1 in Pass Efficiency Defense and No. 8 in Rush Defense. Total Offense is at least competent at No. 49. Their CB Josh Robinson is about as good a DB as I've seen in decades at this level

It's going to be a tough game...will be very different than any of our remaining ones in CUSA. If McDermott is smart with his throws I like our chances. Having Beasley back for the underneath routes could be huge for us.

UCF's defensive front looks a lot different now that DE (Bruce?) Miller has finally graduated. Their secondary is strong, though, so I see Zach Line getting the rock often ... and getting into the end zone a few times!

Our run defense has been pretty good this year. Just hope they don't get tired.

not sure I fully agree. I haven't perused the defensive stats breakdown, but I do know that UCF has ONLY beaten sub-0.500 teams. They lost to FIU, which has had a soft schedule; and, they didn't exactly light-up Marshall. I think the strength of their defensive stats are suspect. Still, they probably have some great components, and it will be a challenge. I still think our offense is more productive than they have seen.

I don't care if they are playing the Knights of Columbus-when you've dominated 5 straight teams defensively like they have this year after dominating just about every game last year including SMU you'd better expect them to be the best defense we've played this year. I was pretty damn impessed with their defense last year at the CUSA Championship-they shut us down. They are definitely going to be better defensively than TCU which was porous and confused in the secondary

Funny now how you 'don't care if they played the "Knights of Columbus' for UCF, when you totally discounted SMU's early schedule and how our defense has been playing so dominant statistically. TCU made a few mistakes but wouldn't call them 'porous'...they have a deep and talented roster with mucho speed and don't go from #1 rated defense to nothing without some growing pains. The 'confused' secondary may have got that way from some new plays that SMU called....we saw the film last week and Mason had some good things to say about them, but don't discount what SMU may have unveiled against TCU. We will just check the stats at the end of the year and will bet that TCU will be among the defensive leaders again...

As far as UCF shutting us down....we kind of shut ourselves down late last year and that game was just an indicator of problems offensively that continued vs. Army and on to TAMU this year.

Wouldn't be hard to crush a 2.5 pt line, just win by a touchdown and field goal and tripled it.....

FWIW,

SMU is 42nd in the nation points for and UCF (despite a 62-0 win over Charleston Southern) is 59th.

Their defense is 5th in points against while ours is 28th.

I would venture to say our schedule has had more of a challenge (two top 25 teams) then theirs (no top 25 teams).

BYU is perhaps the best team to play them and is ranked 106th points for and 62nd points against. FIU is a much better team on paper with their 68th points for and 34th points against standings.

Marshall is 115th points for and 77th points against so not exactly a powerhouse on either side of the ball.

We are 1-1 against top 25 teams and they are 0-0.

This will be a tough game for us but I feel we have played better competition and performed well against that competition.

I always go to this site, it has some pretty good statistical analysis on our game.

Do I read that right? Your site predicts UCF outgains SMU 370 to 239, but SMU wins 24-11? I guess they are predicting a big SMU advantage in turnovers, but I could not find it on the page.
